Cusodial Pet Peeves: My Dump Page
1)Provided whoever was there before you did a good job, you should not have to do any stocking or any trash on your first round. It will save you a good 10-15 minutes (grr i hate the seat cover dispensers, i feel like i will loose my keys), so i'd reccomend drying countertops and mopping and maybe sweeping if needed. If you were to have more than 1 restroom, the best way to avoid a gap is to leave at the same time she leaves the restroom, so don't spend more than 5 minutes in there. With just one restroom, you can probably spend a few extra minutes in there, doing stuff like wiping down tiles near the sinks (There is ALWAYS weird slime where the corian turns to tile, CLEAN THAT! ), and checking out the partitions and baby changing table and stuff. I would reccomend getting your cast restrooms at that point, cause you will not have time to do those for too much time from 8:00 to 10:30 due to the pre and post parade crowds.
2)I'd reccomend being back as soon as possible. You will probably have a break, and you can check out cast r/rs. If you don't have a break, spend 15 minutes doing utility and then check out your cast r/r for like 10 minutes. Don't abandon west for that long! Its too hard to clean such a big restroom if it gets trashed.
3)You could always organize the stock closet if you find nothing to do. Messy ones are char's pet peeve. Or you can clean the soap dispensers or remove them from the wall, empty out all the soap and then refill it and put it back on the wall like the utility sheets reccomend
4) Just take your time. Don't rush things and get nervous about anything.
Oh, another note. Why do some managers completely forge the time on the frequency logs. Like one manager went to the restroom between my 2 rounds and when i got back to do the later round according to his "round", he had already signed out from his 4 minute round but the kicker is i looked at my watch and it was a minute before he said he entered the r/r.
Also, I wonder if management cares when a guy and girl have the same restroom split (this could happen in tortilla split, carousel split, or possibly dreams split), and they go around with one another for the whole shift. Makes the time go by much faster.

This is only MHO. I'd certainly FIND, MAKE work for myself between your rounds when Char is around or apt to due her many checks @ DCA. Char is VERY THOROUGH :!: :!: Don't push the envelop on this issue! Doing utility with an eye on your main restroom was/is wise. Char was the reason I pulled my DCA transfer papers & stayed @ DL in 01.BohoRoohaha wrote: 2.) What am i supposed to do with myself between these rounds? 3.) Will I get in trouble if I don't find something to do between rounds, cuz they'll think i'm stiffing. and 4.) cuz i only have one restroom I know i can goof off which is cool, BUT Charlene was the manager that night and its known that she likes to check West every so often. So i'm torn between goofing off, and running the risk of getting caught in Char's wraith, or trying to find soemthing to do to keep me busy, when it was a slow day anyways.
I ended up doing utility which was great cuz it let me keep a close eye on my restroom and kept me busy, and i did the number of Cast restrooms checks like i'm supposed to. she didn't show up anyways, so that was nice. all-in-all that was a great day for me and a great learning experience. so yea...

thanks guys. i heard that mary c. was moving to attractions, but i'm not sure. yea, everything turned out fine in the end. i kept busy the entire shift. what i figured was my first round i'd just check everything as i'm doing my saftey check and mark that on the log. then go do my first round of cast r/r. Do a full round in guest r/r. then do utility, another saftey/inventory check, cast r/r, close-out (4 hour shift). good times good times.
Did my first swing utility shift last night! whoohoo! that was fun. I'm a little scared of heights but being on the lift was fun. I eventually got used to the swaying of the platform when you're up high (and for my legs to stop jello-ing). and i tryed not to look down as much as possible. lol. And it was cool learning how the lights work and noticing stuff that you usually don't notice. i saw some really cool spiders and spiderwebs too. It was cool cuz we got to ride out in the truck on stage and sit on the benches, and drink, and listen to music on stage. there was a lot of comraderie too. cuz it was a group of eight and we hung out in the break area and kicked back and stuff. I'd definatley do it again. I think i'm gonna request it on my sheet.

Yeah swing utility is awesome now with the pressure washers. Lol. I hate doing anything for the light bulbs, what a pain in the ass to unscrew the things, and worrying about dropping it.
Lol, what were you doing ONLY having entrance west on a tuesday? How in christs sake did you end up so lucky!?!? Did you even have to pick up condor? Lucky... I usually end up with crap like carousel nowadays, with the LONG walk to tortilla.

Yes, Mary is one of the kindest & most giving individuals I've ever met. She will do ANYTHING within her power to help a CM - Custodial or any other dept. Mary is a great listener & will help with ANY situation, ANY time :!: Talk abt an "Open Door" policy....Mary's door is always open, as well as her heart. Her sense of humor is FANTASTIC!! So makes me laugh when I screw up. I've been a Mary fan sense the day I met her in a training class. Haven't heard she is retiring. Can't happen :!: She has been with Disney for like 18 years. Mary will be around for the big 50th Birthday! Attractions has always been a favorite with Mary. Maybe I'll just have to transfer.abc wrote:Main streeter, is mary c. retiring or is she headed to attractions like our karla is? Mary is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, even though the only interaction I have had with her is saying Hi in the office or when she is theme park 2 at dca.

I went to DL yesterday and noticed the signs on the trash cans "Waste Please". my boyfriend and I were joking that it was subliminal messaging telling people to waste more vs. "Recycle Please" on the recyclables telling us to recycle.

Had my first Tower shift yesterday and it was great! Except that the inside felt like I was in the Overlook Hotel from the The Shining, especially with that creepy music. I was waiting for Jack Nicholson to show up with an ax and for the elevator doors to open and for blood to come pouring out. Also, does anyone know the names of the songs they play at Tower? I really want those songs!
