Yup, it's like I tell my trainees: "You don't just want a job next week, you want a job next year! Making sure our guests enjoy this year's vacation is how we make sure their next vacation is here too."

I second that. lol

I will continue my great customer service in the monorails. Although there's not a WHOLE lot I can do, I will do what I can do make the beginning or end of their day just as magical! I also try to be the helpful cast member when not working but at the parks. I always stop to help lost guests, and I also offer to take photos of the entire family so they are all in a picture. Even those little things, while they may not find out you are a cast member, will actually help out a lot. Especially when they are having a bad time due to crying kids or a CM who did something that made them upset.

lol My parents have told me many times that I should be in some sort of customer service position or Public Relations job. Something that deals with talking to guests and helping them with issues they may have while visiting.

I doubt anything even close to that, unless they were really expensive cookies.

In Monorails, and all Transportation roles, we have a truly sacred trust. We are often the first people guests see in the morning, and the last ones they see at night. Sometimes, we are the ones wishing them a safe trip home, and letting them know we hope they'll come back to see us again. In some ways, our position is one of the most innocuous. In others, we who work outside the parks have the most slack to pick up at the end of the day.

I can't tell you how much I wish it was a Cast Member on the Magical Express. While I haven't heard of any guests having bad experiences, a bad experience in that part of their stay is sure to be devestating. If it's as they're leaving, there's nothing we Cast Members can do to make it better.

Never lose that love of providing Magic. I can see we're going to get along well.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I just spat out a number... It's probably more like 20-30 cents....could be even less than that.

I've had this love for providing magic for quite a long time. I use it in everything I do. On the job and off the job.

When my family and friends go to the park, we enjoy riding the monorail systems. It is faster and you don't have to wait for the crowded buses. :)

I would not have given the sundaes free,

On the dining plan the only sundaes included as snack items are the regular sundaes. The cast member was wrong so I will credit you these sundaes as snack items this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

After telling the guest that I then explain to the CM the items that are allowed, in private. The guest can take the deluxe sundae on the DDP or go jump in a lake. The CM who made the mistake had only given them the credit off of the DDP and not a free item. I as a guest would have paid for the ice cream or taken the credit. I am in the parks for fun and it is not worth it for me.

Mechurchlady, Do not get me wrong I did not expect the sundaes for free, I just expected that the would allow me to use my snack credits for them like I was told in the first place. I am not one of those people who pull a tantrum just so I can get something for free I was upset because I was told one thing then rudely treated when I expressed this.

Wallaby, Zazu, Cav you guys all have the right attitude when it comes to customer service. I may have mentioned before but I am a regional manager for a major company that is very heavily customer service related I would hold Mickey hostage if it meant I could get 10 people with your service minded attitudes.

Infact because of the great experience 99.9999% of the CM's provided we are planning to head back again in October for our anniversary and kids birthdays.

Oh one more thing Cav. Do not underestimate the impact you can have on guests working in Monorails. We got to ride up front with a pilot named Zach and when he gave my kids their co-pilots card my oldest thought that was so cool and did not stop talking about it. Even yesterday he reminded me he was licensed to drive a monorail. Also that he was a Jedi padawan and a jungle boat captian but anyways you get the point. Even the things you may see as small have a magical impact on the guests.

I know who you are talking about. He's a great monorail pilot! Yeah, it's only my first week working since training, so I'm actually figuring out all the stuff I CAN do to give people that extra magical moment. I have already suggested places for new couples to eat, and things to see, as well as handing out the monorail trading cards. I am good with kids though. I usually tend to talk to them more. I usually ask them what rides they went on, or if it's the morning, what rides they should try.

when I'm off, and a parent is having difficulties talking their kid into riding say Rockin' Roller Coaster, I'll stop (if it looks ok to) and tell the kid that if he thinks of the ride as something fun and new and exciting, for example, on your way to Disney, it won't seem so scary. And his dad will be there with him in case he gets scared. So he can hold on to him. Usually works. I've had one kid ask if I was going to ride it, so I told them yes (even if I didn't really want to, I did it anyways) and I would get in line with them. Cause I've done it a MILLION times. haha

Only had one of those though... I wouldn't mind doing it again though. The look on that kid's face when he got off was really rewarding. I saw them later that evening and he told me he went on it 7 times! :D

ugh.... My posts are really long. lol So many wonderful stories from working here three years ago and from working at another theme park up in Indiana for two seasons....
