A Charlie Brown Chrismas
Re: A Charlie Brown Chrismas
I once bought one of those Frappicino things that come in a bottle--smelled and tasted like a wet Airdale. Never got it again. If they want to serve good coffe, why not Folgers? Or Starbucks? Maxwell House is so-so, Hills Bros. is almost as good as Folgers, and of course those fancier coffees are usually good too, like Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I can't understand why the parks don't serve good coffee--I can see it at Knott's, because they're so cheap, but Disney?

It's a little thing called a sponsorship held by Nestlé. They sponsor The Land, we all get bad coffee.felinefan wrote:I can't understand why the parks don't serve good coffee--I can see it at Knott's, because they're so cheap, but Disney?
At least the contract with Kraft is over and we can finally get decent mac & cheese again.

At Del Taco we served Farmer's coffee blend. I thought it was Folgers. It tasted good. The stuff at Disneyland is gross. I have tried the starbucks coffee in a glass bottle. The moca flavor tasted good when chilled.

Zazu,
When do the Christmas trees go up for decoration? Is that at the end of November?
When does the parks take down their decorations? I am going to WDW Jan.2010.
Thanks. :)

It depends on staffing levels, and to a lesser degree on the amount of decoration. The past several years, the Holiday Services Dept. (who are responsible for all such decorating) has been shrinking, mostly through attrition. As a result of having fewer people, they are having to start decorating earlier each year, and it's taking longer to reset after. This year it seems they abandoned all efforts at Thanksgiving decoration and went straight from Halloween to Christmas. I think I saw the first Xmas decor go up in mid-October.turkeyham wrote:Zazu,

So your chances of seeing *some* Christmas decorations in January are pretty good, especially the first half of the month. But it will be on a site by site basis with more taken down each night.

Taking this coversation (only for a moment) back to the original topic, since the internet connection where I was when this topic started was a little spotty, and I decided posting was too difficult a task (I lost a post that was over 5,000 characters when it wouldn't connect my first day).
So, to explain the Christmas Tree, it was originally sponsored by Cialis.
Oh, and regarding that tornado, it was certainly interesting. I drove through the path on my way to work, and without ever having seen a tornado path in real life before or knowing there had been one in the area, I knew exactly what it was. It was unmistakable that a small tornado had gone by. Come to find out, this was less than half an hour after it happened that I walked out my door, and the path is about a minute and a half from my house, or five/ten minutes walking not-too-brisquely.
How close was it to Disney property? Well, to get to World Drive (WDW's main road) from my front door takes about four minutes if the lights are right, and most of that driving is spent lateral to the edge of property. If I am driving to AK, I can get onto property even faster.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Talking about bad storms, the second day when our group met back up at the airport to pick up a friend...the weather was ugly. Thunder storms and lots of heavy rain. Ok, we were on the way to our friends who live behind the MK. We got in and were chatting. We had this one storm front that followed us for about 40 minutes. It rained so hard we could not see the road. When we got to my friend's house they got on the computer to map out the storm. Yup, it was a strong storm cells with a few tornados touching down in their area. Around 2 pm the cell hits the area. We ended up loosing power for 7 hours. After the power came back on we went to the resort and checked in.
I can believe you, when those storms come in and do damage control...get away or stay inside quickly. ;)
