Re: glendalais Celebrates Summer at WDW!
I've not been in the parks during Gay Days, but many accounts I've read have mentioned that other than a lot of red shirts, it's not an obvious happening. WDW is so large that you won't find the intense concentration in one place like you might at DL. There is an active forum on the DIS Boards for gays and lesbians and you could probably find out which parks are designated for which days during gay days. Florida is not quite as liberal as California so you probably won't see as many PDAs and unfamily-like behavior as you might at DL.

Also, keep me in the loop about a meet up. I work for the competition, but, I could at least come say hello...I have done that with Zazu...and I know that if Wallaby and I were in the same room we'd at least have WHO in common...
If you fly into Tampa for the price, let me know. There are options, depending on what day you do it. There's the Wallaby Taxi Service (at excellent rates), or there's the Amtrak Silver Service... and I love taking the train. I'm afraid I might have to join you for that.glendalais wrote:Thanks, everyone :) . Tampa's out of the question then (I wouldn't have a car, so that 1-1.5 hours would likely become 4-5).
Let me tell you my experience last year with Gay Days. I was working Safari, and while I had the usual SG's, you know which people were the most courteous, respectful and kind? You got it, those with the red shirts. They were the ones coming up and complimenting me on my safari quality, and not complaining about the wait. Meanwhile, in some of the straight families... let me just say there were some gems.glendalais wrote:Doh!
I just realized, Gay Days Orlando is the week after my visit :bbbat: .
(And....yes, I am :) )
Before I go off and pay for my airline tickets (they're currently on hold), How are Gay Day over there? I'm highly tempted to move the entire thing back yet another week, lol.
I'm Single, and, while I do like Gay Days here at the DLR, I'll admit that a lot of the stuff that happens in the Parks tends to put me off. GLBT pride all the way :) , but it's certainly not an excuse to behave that way in public IMHO. I'm a little bit afraid that WDW Gay Days would be that en grand.
But, most importantly, it's to do with the crowds. I believe in making a statement, but certainly not at the expense of a three hour line for a pretzel (self-conceited, I'll admit, but it's true).
Does anyone have any opinions on the matter? Should I move my dates or not?
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I've decided not to move the trip after all. While I am impressed by the large array of events, it's simply not enough to move an established resort reservation, IMO.
And while the idea of taking the Wallaby Taxi Service is intruiging, to say the least :) , I will be flying into Orlando, instead of Tampa.
While it was cheaper, the cost of getting to and from the airport (for those of you in, from, or familiar with Southern California, it was flying out of Ontario), actually made it more expensive than MCO.
I'll remember if I decide to Busch Gardens, though (assuming they still exist by the time I get there, lol...)
Anyway....
My tickets are booked!
My hotel is booked!
My luggage is.....sitting comfortably in the closet, waiting for 4 months to pass.
THIS TRIP IS ON! WOOHOO :D: !

And while you're here, we can scheme... as we ride attractions and stuff.
You WILL take a front cab ride on the Monorail of my choosing, in the evening, on a day when I work. It is not an option. You will ride with the Mark VI Marsupial. :wallaby:
And you will have fun. But that is all week, of course.

Alas, it will have to wait until next time :( .Big Wallaby wrote:And while you're here, we can scheme... as we ride attractions and stuff.

I am having to cancel my trip. I just found out that the chances of me getting time off for it the week of Memorial Day (with a Grad Nite at DLR to boot) are less than the chances of me being struck by lightning....twice....while indoors

Ah well, maybe next time, eh? I'm looking at January, maybe.

Hey - we're coming to visit Disneyland in late April - can we bring you some maps from the parks at Walt Disney World? Maybe they'll help ease your pain a little and provide some entertainment until you can schedule a trip.
I hope we can meet up with some DL cast members, and has anyone heard form the Bubble Ladies recently? We got Bru back online, now we need Vixen and the Bubble Ladies.

You really don't have to, but thanks :) .Whazzup wrote:Hey - we're coming to visit Disneyland in late April - can we bring you some maps from the parks at Walt Disney World? Maybe they'll help ease your pain a little and provide some entertainment until you can schedule a trip.

You know, I keep thinking I've had several close encounters with the Bubble Ladies, but I'm not sure. I keep seeing CMs blowing bubbles, so I know they're nearby ;) .
