Welcome back Bru! You know I've missed you tons!! I think about you frequently and I sent you a PM just before I read your post here. Now I know where you've been and why you've been hiding. I'm glad you're back out of hibernation.

I got my right hip replaced December 10th, went through the walker and cane, and am now tooling around with no accessories. Finished physical therapy and got to start driving again yesterday so I've regained my independence. Doc says I'm doing excellent but I still have to wait at least 6 months to get back on a horse. I'll be glad just to start riding my bike again.

We're going to Disneyland in late April as a surprise visit for my son and his family, and we bought into the Disney Vacation Club and have a November 2009 trip planned with my sister and her DH, who we've also corrupted into the WDW lifestyle. ;)

This afternoon my daughter-in-law, 3 grandsons and her Mom will be arriving for a visit. We've been madly cleaning house, hiding junk, and trying to get ready for them. I don't have room in my house so they'll be sleeping in the travel trailer in the front yard. It's supposed to get down in the 20s the next few nights, with highs in the 50s and even 40s, so I hope they don't freeze. This is Florida - it's not supposed to get that cold!!

That's all my news. Thanks for bringing us up to speed on what you've been up to. So sorry to hear about the continuing decrease in your vision, and I hope that la-di-da fancy surgeon can FIX you come March. In the meantime, spend time with us SGTers and have a little fun. Bru, ASIMO was covered in flowers, etc., and as for the skateboarding dogs, I doubt they understood the music. They're bulldogs who just love to skateboard, their owners say it's hard to get them to stop!
You wrote for NaNoWriMo? Cool! I'd like to do that someday; for those of you who don't know what NaNoWriMo is, it's short for National Novel Writing Month; from midnight November 1st to 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30th, you have to write a 50,000 word novel, without editing it. It is entered for judging and winners recieve prizes. I'm on a writing site and they do that every year. I'm hoping to start on a 7 book series, though an idea for an 8th book popped into my head last night, like a compedium of myths, legends, and more background of the fantasy world I've created.
It's been hot and windy--Santa Ana wind condition--here on the West Coast. I hate when the humidity is low and I can't touch anything without getting zapped!
I hear you about leaving your cat with your mom--the last two times I had a short housesitting job with my sister's boss, I had to leave my cat home with my mom, and both times she didn't get all her thyroid medicine and her water dish was bone dry, despite mom insisting she'd filled it! She even tried to tell me the cat had knocked it over--not possible! Next time, I swear I'm taking Tripod with me, no matter what. I'm in a blood pressure study, and I hope to use the money after it's over for driving lessons. Hang in there, lady!

Welcome Back!!! Don't worr about not posting, it's been a busy time for everyone, eh, what with the economy crashing and whatnot, lol.

I'm so sorry to hear about your vision, eh :-(, hopefully they'll be able to help you.

As to my goals in 2009....I'm looking forward to finally making some real progress towards my A.A. (which has been greatly aided by the fact that I finally figured out how to make my school apply A.P. Credit from when I was in High School). I'm looking forward to paying off my debt by this summer (YAY!!) and then stowing away enough money to eventually move to Orlando (which I am officially announcing my intention to do so right now :-D).

Anyway, hope you'll be able to stay around for a while :-).

I intend to stick around! I never meant to go away so long I just love you guys. I don't know what I'd do without our colorful cast of characters around here! Yes, felinefan I decided, when my surgery was scheduled for like 10 days away, that I needed a serious distraction since I didn't want to think about the fact that so much could go wrong with it (before he pulled the plug the surgeon was very specific and graphic about what he thought was highly likely and it wasn't that the outcome would be good but he says it's the only option so...)

So I signed up for Nano on the 17th...more than halfway through! I have been writing with various groups online for years though science fiction (read, Star Trek) and so I knew I could come up with a lot of words in a short period of time. Problem was an original idea- I didn't want to write sci-fi. I wrote three two page intros, and went with the third. It just about wrote itself once I got going on it.

What I ended up with was pure fluff-(what else would you expect from Poppin' Fluff over here *lol*) the literary equivelent of a Drew Barrymore movie but I'm proud of my little story!

Test readers said they liked it and that they wanted me to add MORE to it (always a good sign). I ended up with 50,242 words (of course I cut some out - about 1000 more words- even though you technically don't 'have' to cause I knew they weren't going to stay in and it would've bugged me to leave them in.)

Some people asked after reading the excerpt if I was so descriptive when I write to up my word count and I merely laughed and said if they'd ever had a conversation with me in real life they'd know that wasn't possible *Laugh*

I have to tidy up my little 'script. I asked for a T-shirt to commemorate my first Nano-novel for Christmas and hubby gladly complied The novels aren't judged though they just verify word count and it's just 'honorary' prizes like little web buttons and all but I'm proud of the accomplishment considering I was working with one eye and no sleep and did it in ten days! My daughter was out of town so it was the perfect chance to shut off the world, hide in my 'cave' so to speak and just pretend to be a writer.

It was funny I got stuck at around 24000 words and my husband, smiling, knew I wouldn't sleep if I tried so he literally pushed me out of bed at midnight and said "You know, there's no rule against making coffee at midnight" and I answered "Are you doing this because you know I do my best work between midnight and six am?" He just grinned. I replied, "Uh oh, I wrote the rest of the novel during the day what does that mean?"*LOL*

He says he might try it with me next year. I'm still hoping that somehow they can fix my eyes and by then I'll be able to see what I'm doing.

Speaking of hubby he's stopping home for lunch today! Whee! Will try to be back later today to catch up on some reading (and virtual monorail. I have to catch up on that you know Wombat how I love my trains.)

I got your card back in Sept. Putting so much OT since getting my job back kinda kills any personal time. If the gods of the pay-check is good to me (and the govt doesn't take all) it'll be there by the end of the month.

BRU!! So glad you're back. I've really missed you. Sorry about the holidays. Hope the new year brings you all the best.

Way down here in the land of cotton all is about status quo. DD got her driver's license yesterday, so she's on top of the world, and DS got his heart's desire for Christmas - a Wii. It's been great fun and since I made sure to include a Wii Fit for the grownups we've been loggin' in some hours on it.

I'd love to read you novel if it's still around out there if you feel like posting a link to it.
