Missed you very much and now for my update.

I am parked over at Disboards and they are helping me a lot on the disabilities board. I now am seeing mom as what she is, a kid with autistic qualities or at least a miswired brain. She has her really low moments and I am not seeing them and know to be very gentle with her then. They have helped me on my miswired brain also.

I have not killed Calvin YET. He hired a dude to work on the house and now my brand new frying pan is gone, mom's toothbrush is gone, and lord knows where the popcorn bowls are. The top shelf had my tea bags and stacks of stuff that will come down in the next 5.5+ earthquake.

I have the usual food related problems. Latest is eggs but oooooh that sandwich was to die for, literally as it has eggs, lol. I got another infraction for calling someone a bad name but I swear it was a typo. He deserved worse.

Did I say I missed you? Hugs and chocolates
Laurie

Awww I missed you guys too so much! I'll try to get everybody here in one fell swoop...

Ktulu- sorry will do my best not to lose track of time so badly! the days blurred together for awhile there- all that happened over the summer/fall caught up to me and kinda mowed me under for awhile. But to quote Mushu, "I live!!!!" *hugs*

Malpass93- Sad to say I haven't been to WDW since last April so no new SG stories. I do still owe some folks the story of the button from the Monorail Pilot's uniform and the Christmas dance. I will post it as soon as I can...

Amphigorey: No! I missed that!!! Wheeee! I still adore Wall-E completely and have one of him in one form or another in almost every room of the house. In fact, when I was stranded at my parents in the blackout my husband had stopped home to check the pipes, etc and brought my wall-E fleece blanket to me there, me and the cat found it very comforting! :) Good to see you!

Shorty sounds like your trip is going to be an epic event! Have to share your stories with us after that one is over! A new day is coming to DLR..."In a world, where a Marsupial, a Rat and a Really Tall Guy join forces to rid the world's most beloved theme park of Stupidity..." sounds like a good movie trailer intro to me! *laugh* *hugs!* I thought of you the other day because I was looking up stuff on the AC online and stumbled across Peter David's blog- have you heard of him? He writes a lot of books (I always enjoyed his Star Trek work, specifically Imzadi) anyway, he was/is a HUGE AC fan and was suggesting people send in maps to Disney as part of a save the Adventurer's Club thing. I always think of you when I hear it mentioned. I'm so glad we went there on our last trip at least I got to go there once.

Mainstreeter thanks for the welcome home. It does feel more like home here than 'home' ever did LOL Big hugs!

Hobie- condolances on the MIL visits (more on that in a minute LOL) great to see you, man! I hear you often in my head. "Don't engage her! Just don't engage!" then I hear Elastigirl saying "Disengage!" LOL

Disneymom: You're a saint. Will send that PM soon! *hugs* Glad to see the holiday hurricane didn't blow you away!

felinefan : I missed the parade this year! I've missed a LOT of stuff this year. I did see something on the news later that day about dogs skateboarding. They seemed to enjoy it but I still thought that subjecting them to hours and hours of "who let the dogs out" should be considered animal cruelty. They must have made the ASIMO out of flowers right cause I thought everything in the Rose parade floats had to be alive or organic right?

Churchie: You're so sweet, thank you for missing me missed you too! I'm glad that you're finding support on boards here and otherwise anything that helps you cope is a mercy. *hugs* So sorry to hear about your troubles with food I can feel your pain I was on a basically liquid diet for four months as I just couldn't tolerate food while my dad was so sick. Didn't matter what or when I ate it, it was not a good thing. good news, I took off just about all of the last of that weight that Prednisone had put on me years back! But that is doing it the hard way, believe you me. Hang in there!!!

I finally figured out- part of why it's so hard for me to post here/read here are font sizes are so small even with the magnifier on my browser and mouse it's hard since my right eye has gotten so bad (the left sees nothing but bright blur- they can't even see into my eye to examine it anymore!) right now I'm typing this reply in my email program and will move it over to the forum (hope the font comes out okay) I wish there was a way to make the display more friendly for visual impairment am I missing a way to do it? I know you can reply in bigger fonts but the compose window is still tiny.

Updates from my corner of the world in a sec...

It sounds like everybody had good or at least survivable holidays (sorry about the MIL Hobie- maybe for Christmas next year you should get her tickets to a cruise or something and it'll be more of a gift to you *laugh*)

Ours Christmas was small just us three and quiet and that was all I was fit for after the past year. I didn't get a single card mailed out but then everyone knew that was going to happen because of the eye issues. I did send out a little audio card though- if we had a way to post sounds here I'd share it with ya'll. Just me doing some caterwauling! But at least you don't have to see to sing.

As it stands I'm still booked for the super-specialist surgeon in March. They still want me to go to genetics counseling in the meantime but I am leery of it for many reasons and keep putting it off. They just can't offer me good enough reasons at this point to go through with it.

My Dad is still with us in body- his spirit seems pretty much gone. Living in that house, i don't wonder why.

When I stayed there during the black out it was very stressful- my mother literally never stops talking and no matter where you go in the house you can hear her raving (even with earbuds in *shudder*)

I was text messaging my daughter to try to stay sane (I managed to spare her by having her spend extra days at her dad's- they had power) but even the poor cat (the reason we didn't go to a hotel) wouldn't leave my side he wouldn't let me out of his sight even to go to the bathroom! We've left him with my mother to go on trips to WDW before and I think he was terrified that we were going to do it again. Needless to say I don't ever want to leave him with her again. Apparently she stresses out animals as much as people.

I didn't get any sleep because we were in my Grandmother's bedroom and while she's been gone four years now the room still smells like her perfume and such and it was very emotional for me. In addition the bed had the consistency of quicksand I should have slept on the floor!

Funny story though about staying in that room though.

I'm laying there at 3am trying to sleep and not getting anywhere and I hear the unmistakable noise of the cat getting into something. So I get the flashlight and manage to see he's under the edge of the bed. Pull him out by the rump and find he's gotten hold of a tiny plastic hairspray bottle cap. From one of Grandma's hairspray bottles.

She's gone four years but she's still with us LOL That thing had to be under that bed at least five years no one else in the house uses hairspray or ever did.

My daughter turned 13 over the holidays (i am now officially old) and we've completely lost our minds we're taking her to see the Jonas brothers this weekend in the nosebleed section but we are in the building. My favorite things- crowds, noise, and stairs. Wish me luck LOL The things we do for our children...

Only one really cool thing I did that made me happy since I've talked to you guys is worth telling you about-- when I just couldn't cope with life at all for awhile there and was dealing with the full blown panic attacks every day especially at night, ... I hid from the world and I wrote a 50k word novel for NaNoWriMo in ten days! It was liberating! I have always wanted to come up with a full novel draft and decided heck, don't know if I'll be able to see to do it without dictating next year, I just did it! I blew the font up to ridiculously humongous, consumed massive amounts of caffeine and went without sleep long enough to do it.

It took mentally tying my inner-editor to a chair, but I did it.

I discovered my inner editor looks and sounds just like Edna Mode. "I never look back, Darling, it distracts from the now..."

So tell me, did you have any big goals you accomplished in 08 or are trying for in 09? Inspire me people! :D I know you can!

love ya'll!!!
Bru

WOOOT! I can read that with my right eye without the magnifier on the browser LOL.

My glasses quit working- got new lenses three times last year finally gave up. It's just not happenin'. My in laws got me a huge high powered and LED lit magnifier for christmas so at least for now I can once again balance the checkbook! They dont expect that to last long though.

I should start a "Say something to Bru in huge text" thread LOL

In fact, I think I will make a note in my sig about my vision so people who are new here don't wonder why people are making the font so big for my sake.

You rock, Matterhorn! *hugs!*

love
Bru

I'm trying to reignite my bike program for 2009. I only got about 1500 miles in for '08. I'm shooting for 7000 this year.

Power out: Since you didn't specify the circumstances, do you mean the one that hit the whole northeast after the ice storm in December, or a different one?

I just want to graduate and start working towards getting out of debt, right now that is my only goal.
