Station gates are a must especially after the Big Thunder incident. As a kid I knew that the yellow line meant for me to wait until the vehicle stopped and was empty. Priates and Small World are notorious for the old days when you were trying to exit as people were loading. It made me feel so rushed and I can only go so fast. Also make it disabled friendly as that is one thing that bugs me about some rides and like with Toy Story Mania it can happen with a little thinking.

an old roommate of mine nicked his knuckle on SM because he decided it would be funny to ride it with his arms in the air. And he's not very tall.

I also rode it with the lights on a couple of months ago, and let me tell you...it was the scariest ride I've ever been on.

For reals. That mountain is TALL, which you don't notice until you're at the top with the lights on!

Doctor McKey wrote:...some of the things that where discussed that may and very well might happen are...

1. Automatic station gates at the the load platform
2. New entrance and exit sceens / atmospher
3. NEw lighting effects, to include better choc. chip cookie meteors
4. Possable Linear Induction launch system ( See RnR )
5. Two wide car seats ( you know for fat americans )
6. Shoulder restraints
7. Music in the head rest
8. New Track layout
9. if they do the LIM's to launch then a ne station ( from the rumor mill... its going to be part of the old skyway station.
10. Ride Photo System with possable photopass card like test track.
1) Good idea.
2) eh, never was in line long enough to notice them.
3)Please tell me they wont remove the cookies. (but we all know they will)
4) Um...Why on earth would they need that?
5) Ugh. I like the slim ride vehicle and really dont want some fat @$$ sitting next to me on SM
6) Cant see a need for them eaither.
7) we already have a RnRC, we dont need another one.
8) And whats wrong with the current one?
9)See #4
10) About time.

In Short. Other then basic repairs, I HATE the way Disney is changing the classic rides. God leave something for those of us that grew up there to still enjoy.

In regards to 5.
Fat Americans would not fit on two wide car seats.
Any new roller coaster (built within the last 10 year) are barely wide enough for the average size rider. Granted the average size rider is still over weight.
Its not like they would let large lad or lass sit in the middle of the seat... the restraints would not be designed for that. Actually, the current configuration is probably the best design for those larger people.

As for 6.
The ride does not go upside down. Shoulder restraints are not needed. Unless she's a blonde named Inga who will restrain me the whole ride... then maybe number 5 would work. Oops, a little off track here.

I remember when space mountain was down for 2 freaking years in CA. I was devestated that I couldn't ride space mountain on grad night. But I knew that it would be closed on grad nite a year in advance, so I was able to get over it in 5 minutes. The only thing I said to the CM was, "No space mt. on gradnite? That sucks!" and she said " Yeah I know it sucks".

I am fat and I have never had a problem with SM and miss it a lot. I see the idea of a launcher is taht it would rapidly send the ride to top speed in a short distance and I like the way Screaming bursts into top speed instead of the old clackity clack clack way of getting to top speed.

SM at DLR is better.

i think the station gates were installed asap when some kid next in line for thunder dropped his hat on the tracks and jumoed down to get it as a train entered the station. CM slams estop. Gates are installed next rehab. SGs cost the park $$$

It is a much needed safety feature and not just for SGs. A person with poor vision might not see the edge or a person may trip and fall onto the track. the Big Thunder incident was where the kid stood on the edge of the loadiing dock and the train took off his toes from what I remember. It was the first or one of the first incidents of guests getting hurt by going past the yellow line too early. There are enough guests who are not stupid who can get hurt by accident. I am glad the gates are there as it also makes it harder for guests to switch rows.

If something falls off and can cause harm to retreive it, get a new item. Also several years back, I heard on the Story Book ride that a kid got her arm stuck between a boat and the dock causing her to break her arm? Can someone fill me in on that?
