An interesting article. You realize his predecessor would never be in a picture like that with the Jonas Brothers.

Actually, much of the personal description they give reminds me of my dad. Same style of humor, same quiet leadership style.

I don't know completely what I think of Iger... I know he started off his career as CEO by doing some good things, but I think the quiet, non-bombastic style lends to me not being able to form an opinion of him, even after several years.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Sounds like an opinion to me. :D:

Great article!

This is one of my favorite parts.
Lasseter and Iger were eyeballing wood and foam scale models of Cars Land. The biggest draw in the mini-park will be a ride featuring animatronic characters from the movie and "cars" that go 40 miles an hour but seem much faster in places, thanks to new projection technology. Lasseter crouched as he made his way through the 1/8 scale mockup, adding his own sound effects for each twist and turn. "Look at this! Have you seen this, Bob? Lean down and take a look. It's like the movie, except you're there."
Cars is probably one of my favorite Pixar movies, if not my favorite. I need to watch them all again I guess :D:

I hope Iger can keep up the successes. He also needs to hire me for a job in Imagineering, with the ability to come down to the parks and learn how to run the Steam trains and allow me to operate them at least a couple days a week :D:

My parents want to work at a Disney park after they retire, my Dad would have to be operating the trains and my Mom would be happy in any position where she could sit down.

It's easier to form an opinion of Bob Iger -- a positive one -- if you worked for the Company under his predecessor.

At the time of the changeover, I warned my fellow CMs that it could be a year or more before we saw positive changes, as we would still be under an Eisner budget for another 15 months. We saw positive changes start in less than half that time.

Where Eisner was a control freak, his fingers in every pie, Bob trusts that he has the right people working for him and gets out of their way. It's much more my own style of management -- I've always said that authority and responsibility are a matched pair, not a list of options.

There's still a lot of "Eisner-think" around the Company, an many in mid-management who still espouse his approach, but their days are limited, and time is weeding them out.

Despite occasional disagreements with Company approach, I am happier being a cast member *and* a stockholder now than I was ten years ago. A fact that is reflected in my continuing to work there and in continuing to buy more stock.

If you're in for the long term the current price is very attractive.

That was a good article.

And as a sidenote, I'm glad that things are still moving full speed ahead on Cars Land. Its should be a great addition to DCA.
