"How Long Is The Wait?"
No one wants to wait in lines. My grandma who can walk perfectly (thanks to a new knee) doesn't want to wait in lines (never has) just because "She's the grandma!" She jokes about it but she always waits her turn. Maybe the abuse came out if the not wanting to wait in lines or those who really needed it cause of a broken foot one trip enjoyed the priveledge and desided to fake an injury to get another one. I never knew about the SAP and I did know that wheelchairs got special privledges but my family always waited in line like every other family. (We also tended to go to the park in early Nov about once a year) Long lines during peak periods no explanation nessesary.

The SAP and the shortly lived SAC were horribly abused and Stduck your right it is because people don't want to wait in line. I remember having to revoke passes because when they changed the system to the SAC and people couldn't get one they just saved there old pass from their last trip. People got so pissed when we would send them into the line. They would tell up that they couldn't wait in line and I learned a great phrase from one of my plaid friends, "sir/ma'am this is Disneyland there is nothing we can do to let you avoid lines." They always got pissed and stormed off.
Another thing these people don't get is that just because they have the pass doesn't mean they get on right away. I had a friend who once used a highlighter to highlight the, does not gaurrentee immedete boarding, part on the SAP. Unitl one anoying guest took her highlighter and snapped it in half.

The immediate boarding thing is the biggest complaint. During Holiday at mansion we have a cast member specifically to escort the guests down to the load area. If the cast member is in the attraction with guests then the next guests have to wait. People would get all irked that they had to wait get this TWENTY MINUTES to go inside, now the rest of our line was 60+ minutes. During normal mansion we could only send guests down in ER1 (it was easier to get them to the side of the hallway if we had packed it) so sometimes guests would have to wait 5 minutes for the other ER, and then once they got down to the load area they had to wait for buggies numbered 5 through 8 (special buggies easier wheelchair loading) and that could take 5 to 7 minutes. Yeah Holiday should be fun.

I love buggies 5-8, they make getting on and off so easy! I wish more rides were like that. I really have to be in good shape for pirates (and then hope for rows 3 or 4 as my butt can really feel the rollers in 1,2 & 5,6) At IASW, I like to wait for the boat that I can sit in a wheelchair in(wouldn't that be a hoot on pirates???!!!!) and then I'm at the mercy of the CM to remember to hold that boat!
And my adventures with PP have happened more than once. The only time I really complained was one day when it really did me in. My grouchiness sometimes is directly related to exhaustion and pain. The GR CM told me that I wasn't entitled to IMMEDIATE BOARDING. I tried to tell her I wasn't complaining about that, I was complaining about not being allowed on PP without a GAC< yet they would not give me a GAC since my ECV was my GAC. Round and Round we went. Finally, she told me the conversation was over and that the GAC and ECVs were for those who needed them. WTF? What part of I can't walk didn't she get????
As a DisneyAddict, I am committed to bringing back the magic, to the employees and to the guests. In order for me as a guest to help bring some magic back to you, I need to understand you and how interactions with guests are percieved by you and understood or misunderstood by you. And as a guest, I want you to understand how some things you percive as one way are actually a different way.
Guests and CMS are a synergistic relationship. Our enjoyment depends on each other, your enjoyment of your job depends upon how good of a guest I am and my enjoyment as a guest is dependent upon how well you do your job.
You bitch about me, I bitch about you and somewhere along the way, we learn from each other.
I'll be back in the park in a couple of weeks! I've been landlocked for a while trying to adjust to pure morphine and my doctor said he will clear me for activity this Friday! Yipee!

This was one of the (damn few) advantages of ripping my Achilles tendon in two last year. During my recovery, I had the chance to visit my park in a wheelchair (solo -- not fun), in a wheelchair with friends to push, and with a cane and limited energy. I learned a lot about being on the other side of the turnstile as a result.
But I swear ... next time I'm just going to let Adventureland burn!!!

I know the invisible feeling. I am in BRIGHT yellow for Fantasmic and I am trying to get through and I am yelling "EXCUSE ME" as I plow my way through traffic, still no one sees me.PoohBunniesHutch wrote:Do you know how many asses get shoved in my face in Adventureland. Poohbunny you are an awesome guest and an awesome AP. I hope that some time in the future I get to have you on my attraction. Have you ridden Winnie the Pooh in the WAV? (Wheelchair Access Vehicle?) If you haven't you should it would make things easy on you. But as for adventureland? I try to avoid that area as much as possible whether I am at work or playing.

No I haven't rode it in the WA vehicle. SInce I can't use my ECV in line and since the most time the wheelchairs there for use are for the size of a gnat, I walk it, especially if there is no line. It really helps that there are things I can hold onto on both sides of the que. Sure, it takes me a while, but the effort is worth it! I love Pooh, can't you tell???? And my the way, I love being an awesome AP. Maybe it would be different if I weren't so grateful for what i do have.
