At 211 lbs. on a 5' 7" frame, I'm afraid the bike would be riding the rims. And our apartment complex doesn't have a gym. I had a bike until a few years ago, but mom made me get rid of it. Never really got to ride it, either. Some friends had given it to me as a birthday surprise, but the front fender was put on wrong, and when I corrected it, it wouldn't stay attached to the handlebar post. Christmas is going to be really basic this year.

Ya gotta start somewhere. You don't need a bike with 23 cm (really skinny) tires to get some exercise. Check out used cruisers with minimum 1.5 inch tires. Any exercise is good exercise.

If you can start out with 15 minutes and get up to one hour you'll start to see changes. Your oxygen conversion rate (VOX Max) will improve and your resting heart rate will drop. If you can modify your diet to reduce carbs you will drop weight.

Make an investment in your health.

I'm trying, but mom keeps boobytrapping the house with stuff I have a hard time resisting. This has been going on for 40 years. Everytime I try to drop weight, the whole family does everything they can to sidetrack me. Sickos. Yeah, I got some cereal with less sugar in it, drinking non-fat milk instead of 2%, trying to do more walking. Even found a coupon for Cream of Wheat--something I haven't had in centuries. I used to deliberately make mine lumpy, because I liked eating the lumps! Mom is trying to get me some more fruits and veggies for me, instead of pizzas, etc.. But her stock took a beating in this market, and we've had a few extra expenses. And mom's meds cost quite a bit. I tried telling her to go with the drugstores that give you generics for $10 for a 3 month supply, but she gives excuses. She's a difficult person to live with.
