Was that a simulator?

Post by Shios » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:09 am

First time poster, so I guess this is also my introduction thread. HELLO.

Anyway, to the story. I work at Revenge of the Mummy at UO. I was at unload, doing my normal *clapclap* "Hey guys welcome back to the set! Give yourselves a round of applause!" etc. etc. Now, as the guests are exiting the platform one girl (probably 16-17) comes up to me with a puzzled look on her face and asks "Was that really a roller coaster? Or was that like, a simulator?" I kind of just stared at her, amazed, for several seconds. She gave another weird look and said "What?". I couldn't believe it. I would sort-of expect this sort of thing from a drunk 30 year old at 12am during HHN, but not on a normal day in the afternoon. All I could do was tell her "Yes, it was a roller coaster" as politely as I could and ask her to exit the gates so I could dispatch the vehicle.

But still. What is wrong with people? I swear my job is slowly making me become more and more cynical. But I get a good laugh every now and again.

WELCOME! :)
All I can figure is that kids spend so much time on video games, real life is a little confusing!

Perhaps, "Yes, that was a real roller coaster. But this exit is a simulation." And then watch her try to wrap her (tiny little) brain around that one.

Shios, :welcome: to :sgt: from :wallaby: and :wombat: !!! :D: :D: :D:

Then there's the story of the teenaged boy with his first license driving his mom around. His mom noticed he was doing really well, and complimented her son on his driving skill. He replied, "Yeah, this is the most realistic video game I've ever played."

I've watched my 14-year-old play a few driving games... and told him that based on what I'd seen he was never getting a license! :D:
