"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

Yeah, we had one of those when we were kids. I think at the time they sold for fifty cents. We had lots of fun with our Slinky; crack-the-egg was one of our favorite tricks, though my brother liked to hide around a corner, lying on the floor, and whenever anyone walked by, he'd shoot it out at them. I know, because it happened to me.
Well, the lady did some remarkable things in her life; in her day it wasn't easy being a single mom. Wonder if it was the Jones cult her husband went into....no, that was a few years later, I think, and in Guyana. Eh, she was the defination of success; she lived a long life.

Heh. Forget childhood -- there's one at my home right now! And one of the real metal Slinkies, too, not the cheap plastic imitators.

Can you make it walk down the stairs? I tried that a million times as a kid, never could make it work! :(BRWombat wrote:Heh. Forget childhood -- there's one at my home right now! And one of the real metal Slinkies, too, not the cheap plastic imitators.![]()

I used to be able to, but it only lasted just 3 or 4 steps at a time. Shorter steps seem to work better than standard size. And uncarpeted. We don't have stairs at my house now, but my kids did spend a half hour or so trying to do the stair thing when we were over at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago.DisneyMom wrote:Can you make it walk down the stairs? On a tangent, my favorite Slinky-related quote of all time comes from Stephen Wright, describing how he met his girlfriend: "I met her at Macy's. She was shopping. I was putting Slinkies on the escalator." :D:

My favorite slinky quote ... "Some people are like a Slinky... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs"
