Pirates Of The Indian Ocean

Post by hobie16 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 9:56 am

GP must know these guys. :D: The latest POTIO trick was to seize a super tanker with $100 million of crude on board. Looking into the future, can a chain of POTIO gas stations be far off? Think about it. Other than the cost of the building, their overhead is just about nil. We may see a return to sub $1 prices and, you'll get a free eye patch with every fill up.

AAAAAARRRR!!

Don't know them, but I think they need to re-evaluate things. At some point, it will be worth it for the shipping industry to hire some professional people...say former SEALS, etc. as security. Then the whole risk/reward situation for the POTIO may change ..and not in their favor!

hey.they knew the job was dangerious when they took it!!

hehehehe

There's already talk of hiring Blackwater teams.

Somalian pirates who've been capturing ship off the east coast of Africa. The latest is a $150M tanker with $100M of crude on board.

I see where an Indian ship fought back and won, but there's talk of finding a solution that goes beyond fighting the pirates. Frankly, I think if Somalia's government would do more to help their people, they wouldn't be forced into piracy. I mean, in England they took to jailing and transporting their petty criminals to Australia instead of working on a solution to poverty, and deporting a problem is not a solution--ask the Aborigines. If Mexico's government would do more for their people, we wouldn't have an illegal immigration problem. And if America's insurance companies weren't so greedy, people wouldn't have to go overseas to get surgery or to Canada to get prescription drugs for a lower cost. It's all about greed by those in charge.
