Gift questions ... again

Post by Sarah Magdalene » Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:43 pm

For those of you who had helped me with my previous ordeal with getting someone a special Disney gift, thank you. Last week I had bought a lovely TinkerBell locket and filled it with some mickey confetti. I will be giving it to her this Friday when she is in town with the show she is touring with. However, I do need to give a nice something to another person in the same production. I can't spend the same amount on her as I did with the previous person - the locket was 40 bucks but I was able to get it for just over 21 dollars with my 50% discount. My thought for this other girl was one of those Tiara pendants that are popular among the female guests. I gave her the nickname "Queen" some years ago and felt it would be appropriate. The necklace does not cost as much, but I want her to know that she is just as valued as the recipient with the locket. However, do you suppose that she will suspect that her gift did not cost as much as the other's? The locket is quite a high end thing and came in a very nice velvet box. The tiara necklace is just on some plain jewelry backing with a loop to show that it was hung on display. You suppose that if I wrapped it nicely as well, maybe see if I can get an empty jewelry box from the jewelers, that she would not suspect anything? I also want to give them each a pixie dust pin as well.

I don't see why not. Since you mentioned that her nickname is Queen, it seems an appropriate gift.

Only the most crass and shallow of people would guess on a gifts cost/value. I don't think someone that you would be friends with would do that.

The fact that you went to the trouble of finding one that "matches" her persona says enough.

Just wrap it, or bag it, and I am sure she will like it!!

(you can always get her a bottle of RUM!! hehehehehehe)

The thought is the most important thing. A friend of my wife is a very good artist but commissions can be few and far in between. She had some car trouble and couldn't afford to fix it so I did the work for free and got her a huge discount on parts that saved her a slug of money.

She wanted to pay me but I told her I'd settle for a piece of art. I gave her a piece of sea glass and told her it looks like a volcano on a tropical island. Here's what she came up with.

I guess you could ask around where you work if there are any spare jewelry gift boxes where you work....
If not, a craft shop like Michael's might have something....you are being very thoughtful, and how nice of you to think of them :)
I like your friend's Volcano design on glass,Hobie.
