Who is?!?!

You should look at muni bonds too. They're very stable, pay between five and six percent, and if you can get in state, no federal or state tax is owed on dividends.

I booked this yesterday...

6/15-6/22 with my wife's family going as well.

We'll also be celebrating Abby's birthday during this trip.

Florida does not have state Income Tax, so the last point is moot. Technically munis don't have dividends, they have interest.

But I will have a major investment in munis when my mother dies. She is 94 (although in good health) and has for years been complaining about being a widow and an orphan. Basically all her investments are munis in NY.

With munis you still avoid federal tax. That's usually a bigger bite than state tax.

Don't touch the principal.
