Re: Marsupial on the Mend
Okay, as of this morning I am out of a cast! Yay!
I'm now into the restricted movement boot, known affectionately in our household as the Zazu Boot (tm), since he sent it to me. Yes, I'm actually wearing something once worn by our own beloved concierge/conductor/firefighter Zazu. I'm hoping it will give me special powers or something. :)
I am still using my scooter and not walking, but I can take the boot off and work my ankle on a pedal exerciser, and am clear to start testing it little by little and working back to having my full weight down on it. I go back to the doc in four weeks, and hopefully at that time I'll be ready to start taking some steps.
Best of all, though, I can now take a bath without having to cover my leg in trash bags and packing tape!
I theoretically will be able to drive soon, once I'm confident in my foot's ability to hit the brake pedal hard if I need to. I say "theoretically," though, because as a practical matter, while I'm still using the cart it will be extremely difficult for me to be out on my own. I could probably get up and down into the driver's seat, but I wouldn't be able to put my cart up (in the trunk) or retrieve it when I got to my destination.
So I've got a ways to go still, but I'm making progress!!

Isn't a shower a wonderful thing? I can't get enough of em. I can stay in until the hot water is gone LOL. It must feel SO good to have that thing off!
Happy day! :)
Isn't it a pain not being able to drive? I miss it so much. Been what, eight years since I've driven. I dream about it! Hope every day continues to be better for you Wombat!

Congrats on the no-cast! (castless?, cast-a-way?)
Hmm, Zazu Boot (tm), Possibly you will have an aversion to french frys?
heheheh
OR an attraction to fine wines?
OR wanna drive a train?
hmm, sounds like you need RUM.....
for medicinal purpose only, of course!!!
heheheehe

Thanks, Bru! I can't imagine not driving for that long. I'm already tired of being chauffeured around -- but I'm sure my wife is more tired of it!February wrote:Isn't it a pain not being able to drive? I miss it so much. Like I need to be convinced? I'll be there in 243 days, hopefully wearing a gold medal! (Explanation here, towards the end of the top post, if you've somehow missed it before...)DisneyMom wrote:Good News, Wombat!

I already feel a strange compulsion to dump coffee into a backpack... :D:GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:Congrats on the no-cast! (castless?, cast-a-way?)

Maybe the zazu boot (tm) gives you the power to jump off trains and put out fires without hurting yourself?BRWombat wrote:I already feel a strange compulsion to dump coffee into a backpack... :D:
I think we need a new Zazu Boot (tm) smilie.

Does the Zazu Boot (tm) have the same mystical healing powers as the Bronson Rock?

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.
