When I was a kid, my parents somewhere along the line got a set of her records. Dad got them in the divorce settlement.

I remember hearing the records when I was a kid--not often, we played them when we had company, and we didn't get alot of company when I was growing up. But her voice was simply amazing. I don't know if her work has been converted to CDs or not, but it's worth a check.
There's a totally false rumor that her real name is Amy Camus and she grew up in New Jersey. There are those who argue that she's not really the descendant of the last Incan emperor; I say, read her site and judge.

Re: Yma Sumac Won't Be Down For Breakfast
If you checked out her site, you'll find she was friends with Walt Disney. You have to listen to her singing on the site; there's one song playing as you see the obit announcement on the home page, then on the music link there's clips you can click on to hear selected songs. And yes, most of her work I've discovered has been put on CD. Though I noticed for some reason her one album, "Legend of the Jivaro", wasn't listed--found it on Amazon, though. The Jivaro are/were headhunters, and Yma was raised about 100 miles from their native land. Any volunteers to listen to her music on her site, and give a review, pleeeeze? I hate putting up a new topic and nobody responding. It's not a matter of being educated/classy/whatever; it's just being aware.
