Wearing IDs on stage and off the clock

This is the place to tell us about the stupid things fellow employees can do.

The only times mine is out of my wallet is when I am using it for something.

It actually turned into a game because my friends and I now bet how long it'll take. LOL I've made some $$ like that ;) I think the record was 23 seconds from the time I got out of the car.

I have my ID on me all the time (out of habit), it's just not out in the open to be seen by everyone.

Don't feel bad...I seem to have the same neon sign and I'm not even a CM! I've lost track of the times I've been asked if I work for Disney. In the parks, I'm always the one people single out to ask questions (same thing happens to Mr. Syndrome too). I don't know if we look knowledgeable, non-threatening, or some combination of the two. It weirds me out when I'm not even at the parks and people ask if I work for Disney though. Maybe it's a residual effect of being a TA who only sells Disney cruises...I guess that's sort of like working for the Mouse indirectly.

Oh me too (because I keep other stuff in my ID holder). It usually is in my pocket. But if I am coming on/off from backstage or I need it quickly (like for a discount) I will keep in under my shirt.

I like having a clip. That way it's in my pocket and takes two seconds to add to my non-costume as I exit Stage Left.

Often I catch new CP's with ID hanging out, and I simply tell them they don't want a manager to catch them with it visible on stage. Usually gets me a thanks for the tip, and more importantly they put it away. Hey, if it's simple not understanding the rule, I don't want my fellow CM getting in trouble.

Sorry that I haven't been back here in a while. My family was in town which left me barely time to even check my email.

Syndrome, I know exactly what you mean :)
I think it's always funny when I am not down at WDW and end up offering to take a picture of a family or something and I always get really weird looks. I think it's just a conditioning you get used to

What about the two fingered point? I don't think I'll ever be able to point with just one finger ever again, it just doesn't feel right anymore. I just tried and I guess it has to do with the tendons or something but it just isn't comfortable for me to point with one finger anymore. I can still raise just the pointer but I can't hold it out for long at all unless I also have the middle finger also extended.

Oh, I know!!! Even if I try to, I can't. It feels wrong. After all, I don't anyone to think I'm rude and pointing at them ;)

Same here! I still do the 2-fingered point, even though I'm back in NJ. I don't think I will ever do (or be able to do) a 1-fingered point again.

Yesterday I was stocking and was walking across Main Street back to my main shops after checking to see if the Firehouse needed anything. As I go by the corner in front of the Emporium I see this woman with a Cast ID visible and wearing street clothes. I politely and quietly tell her that she needs to hide her ID as it can't be visible while onstage. She goes "F@#$! I'm tired of getting b!7@#ed at and storms off.

I was shocked. A CM talking like that while onstage. Doesn't matter if you are on the clock or not, a CM should know better. If she has been getting, quote, b!7@#ed at a lot then she needs to stop doing whatever she is doing wrong. At least she put her ID away as she stormed off.

The rules regarding IDs are pretty simple and easy to follow. I always remind CMs to put their IDs away while onstage. I figure it is better for me to say something instead of a manager or an exec to.
