Re: Disney Stock
22 yrs ago my hubby and i bought 5 shares of disney stock (one share for each of us)...before we really saw any dividends (and we did see some checks for $0.32) we each ended up with stock that split...one of my daughters had to sell her shares some time ago, but we each ended up with 12 shares...we still only get small dividend checks, but hell, we didn't get the stock for the money :)

Re: Disney Stock
I've got a couple thousand to invest from my mother's estate which was finally settled. Disney stock is looking pretty good right now, since I'm not too fond of churros.Ms. Matterhorn wrote:You can also buy Disney stock directly from the company on line, but it appears they have a $1000 minimum + $10 enrollment fee. This is the time to invest, as their stock is "on sale"! As Hobie stated, the price is currently very close to its 52-week low of $21.25.
Buy! Buy! Buy! :scrooge:

Re: Disney Stock
It's a fairly stable stock, I started buying it in 1999 when it was at $27, I keep buying more shares when it's low. It's done about as well as the money I stash under my mattress ;) , and much better than my IRA.

Is it money you can afford to loose? Are you a short or long term investor? What are your investment goals?Whazzup wrote:I've got a couple thousand to invest from my mother's estate which was finally settled. Disney stock is looking pretty good right now, since I'm not too fond of churros.

Disney is looking very good right now. If you do buy into Disney look at it as a long term investment that pays a decent dividend. We may, or may not, be close to the bottom of this current mess. I'm sure someone knows for sure but he ain't talkin'. Be prepared to see the price drop further but over the long haul it will bounce back and you'll see some appreciation on the principal.
If it does get to $34, sell.

Re: Disney Stock
I pulled the trigger this morning at $21.70. We'll see if I have great timing or am just another dope.

Re: Disney Stock
I bought some a couple of weeks ago when it hit $25 - bought 4 shares on TDAmeritrade. Was great and pretty cheap experience. The real reason I invested is I love the Disney company and also because I wanted one of the lovely stock certificates. Now be aware, that they will charge you $50 for the certificate. Weird huh? But oh well, I'll probably frame it and make it art.

Re: Disney Stock
CNBC is projecting a softening of the stock price after the earnings announcement Thursday, November 6. The price is down about $1.50 today.
If you're thinking about buying, wait until the price settles down after the earnings announcement.

A nice bounce in early trading. The whisper number may have leaked.
The big news Thursday will be projections looking forward.
