Stupid Monorail Pilots

The rookies we're getting now...... let's just say there's some winners up there that decide when to reverse the train or do other stupid things like using cell phones over main entrance durring the day... when parts of the old Tomorrowland management team are now at Guest Services

We like that manager!

My buddy left his job at Universal and fled in exile as a neanderthal to live in the Cayman Islands....He's cut himself off from all technology. He sends his stories in Aramaic on crayon written 3x5 cards sent by pigeon.

so, a few days ago i was in city hall when monorail was code 100 due to someone deciding they needed to jump over the golden gate bridge to kick off the x games. it was around 11:30 am when i was wondering if monorail was up again. dialed extention since we don't have a radio

me:"hi this is @@@@ in city hall . we dont have a radio so just wondering if you guys are still code 100?
cm:" uuuuhhhmmm don't know i am not the lead"
me:"well let me ask you this then, are you a ride operator?"
cm:" uhm ya!"
me:" are you operating a ride right now?"
cm:" uhm no!"
me:" then you are still code 100, thank you."
hung up...
sorry to whom ever you were but you make it so easy sometimes to uphold the bitchy guest relations reputation.

i know you are an idiot but can you try not to be so stupid?

Aaawww, be fair. Perhaps this guy's shift just started; he gets to the ride, he's out of the loop, so he doesn't know if the ride is 100 or 101 or what. For all he knows, perhaps the ride opened like normal, but just broke down a little bit before his shift started.

Asking if a ride is 100 is quite different than asking if the ride is open.

No offense to any attractions cast members, but you usually know if your attraction is down, even if you just arrived.

Yes, but the caller didn't ask if the ride was down. They asked if it was still code 100 (delayed opening). For all the CM knew, maybe it was actually 101 (breakdown). There's a lot of times when leads, supervision, and shop personel quibble over downtimes, and the proper calls (cause it all depends on who the downtime gets charged to). So for all the CM knew, there might have been some of that going on, and he didn't want to get in the middle of it.

Maybe a simple question like "are you guys running yet"...

ya ya , i know ,pretty snappy of me. i appologize. what tripped me out though was her commment about not beeing the lead. well even if you are not the lead you can answer questions about your ride. i shall be more accomodating next time ,i promise.
it is just very hard to be in city hall with monorail down. noone ever has any consideration for that ride but as soon as it is down, they all came all the way from.... just to ride the monorail, and noone gets back to the hotels ("oh i did not know you lost your legs, sir!"). so in general we were pretty p-o'ed that day about monorail.
but i can tell you, i love you all up there on the platform, i have my best friends up there. so rest assured i am not a train hater.

I'm sorry if I inferred you were being mean, I was just pointing out a possible reason why the Monorail CM acted that way.

On the other hand, maybe the Monorail CM was just being a jerk, or stupid.

I know some of the leads up there can be very territorial, and have snapped at their CMs for taking initiative and calling the ride up or down on their own instead of having the lead do it. Maybe that scenario was in effect.

But, ya know, if that CM was on the platform for a bit, and knew the reason why they were not running yet, then they were just stupid (or didn't know what code 100 meant).

I've worked on Monorails from 91 to 02, and believe me, we do have quite a few clueless operators up there...

Don't want to be snappy but...

Ummmm... the leads are territorial?? lol. I think maybe they are just proud of their attraction and from experience they actually WANT the cast to call the rides up or down or reduced the trick is getting the cast to actually do it!
