Post by drcorey » Sun Oct 19, 2008 6:17 pm

I found this clip of Gay Purree on youtube. I can barly remember watching it as a child. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woqXqHdD ... re=related
I think this was done by warner bros or depae-freeling. did any Disney artist
ever work for these companys? many one of the 9 old men?

p.s. I think I'll name my next female cat Mewsette.

Gay-Purree was written by Chuck Jones. According to imdb.com,Jones did this picture in violation of his exclusive Warner Bros contract. Warner Bros found out about it when they picked up Gay Purree for distribution from UPA. Chuck Jones was fired and he went to work for MGM.
I read Chuck Jones' autobiography Chuck Amuck and I don't recall him mentioning in the book that this happened. Then again its been awhile since I read the book.

Was that the voice of Judy Garland?

Indeed it was.

Robert Goulet as Jean-Tom
Judy Garland as Musette
Red Buttons as Robspierre
Hermione Gingold as Madame Rubens-Chatte
The ever versatile Paul Frees as Meowrice
Morey Amsterdam as the narrator
And additional voices by Mel Blanc.

^Wow! That really is a classic. I wonder if it's for sale on Amazon.com.
