I got to tell you, my least favorite job is MK cast shuttle driver.

I have had more problems with MK cast than with any other cast shuttle or even guests. Cast members cussing me out, bitching about the bus itself, how it's MY fault they missed the bus to their accomodations, etc. Very few say thank you. It's a wonder why more drivers don't say anything. one time, when I tried to be entertaining on that run, I was told to shut the F**K up and drive. Ok buddy, you got it. I did not say a thing the rest of the night. Some (not all) think because they work at MK, their shit does not stink.

I'll drive it if told to but if asked, I politely decline. I'm much happier driving guests or even Pluto Shuttle (MK managers) than th MK cast shuttle.

So do the different names on the busses really indicate different cast routes? I was told once that it just depended on the bus and that different systems showed different character names.

So... in December I'm going to be graduating with my B.S. in Computer Science. Unfortunately, this has led to me thinking about what I'm going to do in the real world come January.

While I know this is not really something SGT specializes in, it seems that there are people here who have done EVERYTHING. Or maybe it's just Zazu.

It's just me. The young whippersnappers here haven't had *time* to do everything... yet.

Sadly, my experience does not permit me to bestow upon you any wise advice for your situation. I can outline a few options though:

* Come to the Mouse, abandon your learning, and embrace poverty as a lifestyle. This option trades money for love.

* Get a real job in IT, earn big bucks, and visit the Mouse on vacations. This option trades love for money.

* Get a real job near the Park, and work here part-time. This may reduce your income a bit, but it will give you a taste of the magic (and kill all your free time).

* Come work at Disney while you wait for a *real* job to show up. I know one friend of Tigger who has an engineering degree but has spent the past six years mailing resumes with LBV postmarks.

* Work in IT, but spend like you work here, investing the rest. Then retire early and come join the cast with your investment income keeping you above the poverty line.

Or you could try my approach:

* Work in IT, spend it all visiting DL & WDW, then marry somebody rich enough that you can retire early, move to Florida, and join the cast part-time. Of course, your heiress needs also to be a Disney fan, so choose carefully.

Good luck about being happy with your choices, and with finding work *anywhere* in this economic climate.

Would be far more tempting if I didn't still owe various sources a few thousand dollars for the last 5 years...

Sounds like the 'evil' but logical option.

That would actually be an attractive option to me. Seems like a decent combination of the above two. Get to make magic and do the computer stuff. Just at the cost of, as you point out, my free time.

And that might also end up happening, depending on the economy.

Well, I'm probably (shhh, don't tell her) gonna marry my current girlfriend, who actually got me into Disney, so that part's a check. The rich heiress part... eh... that's missing. :)

Cast buses nearly always say "VIP Cast Member" or something similar. At the MK both the regular cast shuttle and the Pluto shuttle say that. Annoying and confusing when they have to relocate the Pluto shuttle to the tunnel entrance due to perimeter fireworks. At Epcot they say "Cast East" and "Cast West" depending on which of the two routes there the bus is running.The character names are used in place of "Out of Service" I understand.

Thank you. I knew you'd know a lot better than me. At least I had the basics right. Naturally I didn't know the details such as about the character name as I don't work in buses. The Epcot thing makes sense to me even though I don't know their route except that it goes around behind the World Showcase. I've only rode that bus once and that was with BW from the Cast Center to the International Gateway one evening.

Where is the Millennium Village? The name sounds familiar but I don't know where it is or anything.

It's near Canada. It's now used for special functions and is used right now for the fancy dinners that go with the F&W festival.

From the back side of the park, it's actually directly across from the IG bus stop.

The bus stop is the stop where CM's from Canada catch the bus. You would not have seen it if you went from the cast services building to the International Gateway.
