New Name Tags?
Does anyone have any idea what the "What will you celebrate?" name tags are going to look like? I personally am scared that they're going to be tacky, with balloons all over them.... :gag:

Re: New Name Tags?
I haven't heard that there are going to be new name tags, at least at WDW. Everything I've heard is that there aren't going to be new tags. One of the good things about the current tags (at least on this coast) is that they don't say YOAMD or anything on them so don't need to be replaced.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

Yea, since the division is still being marketed as Disney Parks: The Place Where Dreams Come True, so there's no need to change the current nametags (particularly with big anniversaries for both the DLR and WDW coming up in the next few years), is what I have been hearing from TEAM Centre.Shorty82 wrote:I haven't heard that there are going to be new name tags, at least at WDW. That being said, you never know what marketing might be dreaming up

I kindof wonder how much it costs Disney to replace all the CMs nametags. When you hear about services like entertainment (e.g., character dining, Beauty and the Beast show) getting cut and then you consider the replacement of tens of thousands of name tags... I know it's not a huge cost, but really... guests really don't notice the tiny print at the bottom, I promise. I'm doing good to read the name and hometown. :D:

Re: New Name Tags?
I'd think it would add up to be a decent amount to do up new name tags. First someone gets paid to design a new tag, someone gets paid to approve it and someone has to build the die or whatever is used to make the blanks.
Then people have to engrave the tags for the over 60,000 cast members on this coast alone. Others then have to get those tags out to all of the CMs all over property.

Also there is the ease of always having one name tag. It makes it easier for security as well as CMs to instantly see a name tag and know it is a real one. It would not to hard to make fake name tags. Imagine if there was 20 versions of name tags. Keep it uniform and simple and save the money for things that could be used like advertising and wages.

Their cost for name tag blanks are around a buck. They charge us five to replace it if we loose them. i think the upsell cost is for the cost in time to engrave them.EmptyCinema wrote:I kindof wonder how much it costs Disney to replace all the CMs nametags. Given that they take about 30 seconds to engrave (based on experience here at the DLR), the CM doing the engraving should be making a killingDoctor McKey wrote:Their cost for name tag blanks are around a buck. And to answer the question definatively. Neither the DLR or WDW will be receiving new name tags for this promotion, as per the DLR "What Will You Celebrate" rollout training class.

Hey but we got two year old cookies to play hockey!
