Re: Disney reveals plan for revitalizing DCA
We went into great length on this before and now we can see if we were right or wrong.
The mad mouse ride will be rethemed as a Goofy Sky School coaster.
The Orange Stinger will be replaced or rethemed to be the Silly Symphony swings.
The end of the dead end that was in the original DCA. You walked to the Hyperion then had to double back but now there will be a trolley for lazy folks and maybe they can get some traffic in the dead hollywood area.
I would love to see the Little Mermaid Ride but how many times can I see the Walt Disney Story, lol
Bottom line is that there still will only be so much to do there. I could spend a month in Epcot and 2 weeks in each of the other WDW parks and add miniature golf, hotels, shopping, and water parks, I could spend a year at WDW and never get tired. DCA is boring, was boring, always will be boring. It is the ugly baby sister of the long forgotten older sister Disneyland which has been relegated to the dung heap of Disney parks.

By spending a billion dollars, Disney will get people to come to DCA once to see the new stuff, then guests will continue to ignore the overpriced carnival.

Re: Disney reveals plan for revitalizing DCA
I have to disagree. I went to the Blue Sky Cellar in DCA, the place where they have models and videos and such of the upcoming additions/changes, and I'm excited for it, so much so that I was telling some people that I would consider transferring over there to open some of the new rides cause I think it'll finally be a good park. The Little Mermaid ride will more than likely be hugely popular and have lots of repeat riders, even if it's a terrible ride, because so many little girls have Ariel as their favorite princess.
Then there's Carsland that whole are will be high repeatability I think. There's three rides going in there, one is a kiddie one, I think so not sure if that one will have high repeat, but another one is a Test Track kind of sorta thing and then there's Luigi's flying tires (I think that's the name) that is essentially the old flying saucers ride that I'm very excited about, always wanted to see/ride that attraction, now I kind of can.
Anyway, I think it's going to be good and really bring some people to that park. Only 3 1/2 more years to wait until it's all done. :)

I've been to the Blue Sky Cellar as well and I agree, I'm very excited about everything as well.lady ulrike wrote:I have to disagree. Oh, and the name is "Luigi's Roamin Tires" (Get it?) :D
And the new entrance will be great.
Its important to transport guests to a different time and place when they enter a Disney park.
The new video in the cellar is pretty cool too. There is footage of some of the "World of Color" testing.
DCA WILL be a much better park in the next few years.

Lady, you are right on abt the new attractions at DCA. They will be exciting. I hope this billion rehab is going to be the perfect plan for DCA. We were very impressed with the Blue Sky Cellar. Disney laid all out very well. Has a warm welcoming, fun attitude & style. I'm pleased DCA is going to have so much to offer guests! D L will always be #1 :) , however, I feel a well planned new DCA is a valid bonus for both parks.lady ulrike wrote:I have to disagree. Are you thinking of transferring for opening or for good? If you transfer over you will lose senority. I think there will be many incentives for CM transfers. Senoriety will perhaps not be an issue. Remember the incentives given D L CMs when DCA opened? Incentives to work new DCA will probably be quadrupled. We'll not know how they'll work this out until much later. Will be very interesting.

IMHO I like DCA. Its not an allday park but it does have some good stuff to do. The only time I spent all day there was when millionaire was running. I look forward to some new attractions and a night show, it might become an allday park once they are done with the improvements.

I've always enjoyed DCA. The changes coming to DCA I think will give DLR a successful 2nd gate. I just wish they would run the trolley all over the park!

That would be nice. But I don't think there is enough space for that to be a reality.
But the red car WILL run down the Hollywood Pictures backlot if I'm not mistaken.
I'm very excited about these changes. Once World of Color starts, I'm hoping that DCA will be remain open later.
