GSF Patrol
In my 3 months of living in the land of tomarrow, I have been reminded that amongst all those so-so CM's out in the parks and resorts, that their is a few that shine very brightly but are never recognised. I came to this conclussion after being at the styles that turn for the Stitches Great Mistake attraction and being my normal exuberant self on the mic. Normaly you can not here a CM on that mic out side the que unless you have the hearing of a dog or cat... but when i am on it, i have a good carry sound wise. to make the long run-on sentance shorter, I was approched by two guys in semi nice attire after letting a group in to the SGE.... One of the guy's introduced himself as Matt, Basics Coach for the Magic Kingdom ( and if you have heared of this guy, you will know that he is just under Operation Manager for the park... Call him Number 3 if you will ) and stated that he and the other manager where in the area observing the basics by the cast in the area and could hear me from the Space Ranger Spin Fast Pass Distro ( about 30 yards away ) word for word and had to come over and say hello. he also stated that I was performing the basics to the leter as intended by getting the crowed hyped up and ready for their adventure.
This was a big boost for me mentaly... and got me thinking of something Big Wallaby and I had discussed in our days at Safari's...... The GSF Patrol!!

Re: GSF Patrol
The plan was to get SGT casts to carry Great Service Fanatic cards with them when on and off the clock and when they saw someone doing the basics or going above and beyond for them to get recognised seeing that managers and the lot are never around when they CM's are at their best.
My GSF cards are preprinted for the reason area with room to add additional information... I have three tags i use... "Going above and beyond" for when i see some one going out of their way for a guest, "Protecting the magic" for when i get stoped back stage and ID'd by regular non security cast when i am out of costume, and "Preserving traditions" when I see CM's doing the things that I think Walt would have wanted them to be done.
Non-CM's can get in on this two.. in two ways...
1: When you see someone doing something good or by the rules I use, go to Guest Relations and put a Tell-A-Gram in for them. These are nice things for cast to get from guests, but have no direct impact other then an pat on the back.
2: Have a CM on this board in the park of the occurance and have us write a GSF for them for you. This is acceptable practice, and the SGF card will go on their record card. Items such as these can impact performance reviews, promotions, etc...
Now... CM's need to go to the hub and look up the accetable reasons guidlines for GSF cards so that they CM;s recieving them can get credit for them. Managers can use their discretion to accept them if guidlines are not met..
So what do you all think??¿¿

Re: GSF Patrol
Whenever I'm in the parks I always try to keep an eye out for CMs that go above and beyond their expected duties. I've encountered a number of them in my travels. I was never sure how to go about thanking these wonderful CMs for their effort.
I try very hard not to be a SG and go out of my way to try to be nice to the CMs who have to put up with so much crap on a daily basis.

Re: GSF Patrol
We always bring Cast Member Appreciation Cards with us and hand them to CMs who seem to really enjoy what they are doing and do it with a little extra effort, or do something above and beyond for us or other guests. It could be as simple as making a comment about our visit, or something as significant as making sure we get a FastPass if we're on an attraction that goes 101 while we're on it.
We really appreciate and enjoy the CMs and their interaction with us - it's what makes WDW such a special and magical vacation destination. Recognizing them in any possible way is absolutely great. This year we'll be making an extra effort to stop at GR and fill out a GSF card on them.

Thank you, we will be happy to do this. We didn't know how to give credit to great CMs before but now we do. We will do this in Jan. when we are there.

Unfortunately GSF's are cast to cast recognition. But if you tell a SGT CM about it, we can write it for you... you can still do a Tell-A-Grahm at Guest Relations thoWhazzup wrote:This year we'll be making an extra effort to stop at GR and fill out a GSF card on them.

Re: GSF Patrol
What exactly is a tell-a-gram? I'm assuming it's a CM appreciation report of some kind? I've done this in the past with some CMs and I've written to the co. as well. I will absolutely do everything you suggest, I very much appreciate the great CMs I've encountered. I'd like to say that all the CMs I've dealt with were great but I can't which makes the experience with the exceptional CM that much more enjoyable.

On more than one occasion, I've gone to GR to compliment a cast member and GR CM actually filled out a GSF card based on the information I presented.

The GSF is at the discretion of the GR CM.... not all GR's will do it...EmptyCinema wrote:On more than one occasion, I've gone to GR to compliment a cast member and GR CM actually filled out a GSF card based on the information I presented.
