Disneyland has discontinued the guest nametags. The engraving machines were old and hard to use, and difficult to train new people to use. Many blanks were ruined, more than were actually successfully engraved. I have all the varieties that have been available on display in my Museum, if you wanted to see them. The link is in my sig.

That's too bad about the nametags but I can understand. At Knott's we had a similar machine to do Snoopy keytags and zipper pulls and we had the same problems. It's also labor intensive. You really needed to have someone available who wasn't tied to a register and could engrave them successfully.Walt Disney wrote:Disneyland has discontinued the guest nametags. Re: Question about DL cast member name tags...
When it comes to the name tags, are the CMs (female) allowed to let their hair cover their name tag. I saw 3 ladies at HMH and 4 at space with their hair so long I could not read their NT. All the other CMs (female ones) had hair tied back or it was too short to cover NT.
It seems like an obvious "no". But it looked like these gals didn't want you to know who they were. Plus isn't it hot in the haunted mansion costume, why would you want your hair down?

The machines were actually pretty easy to use, the main problem was that they were super expensive to fix when they went down. I'm pretty sure you can still get pre-engraved tags in generic names.Walt Disney wrote:Disneyland has discontinued the guest nametags. Thanks for letting me know the nametag situation as I wanted to get one to keep nice, the other I'll just try to fix up with a paint pen. I guess I'm lucky it didn't break, I've been wearing it at work almost daily :)Elena (aka: Bubble Lady) wrote:the guy at the world of disney store was very surprised to hear that they were going to be doing away with the name tags...he told me no one has said a word to them about it...i told him they have the only working machine at the resort (god, i hate saying resort)...i did buy several name tags cuz i know they don't last forever...i've actually had them break while i've been wearing them...

I saw GoH name badges and planned on picking up one for each of us before we left, but the SCMT at Pirates sorta ruined that...
