ABC Prime Time Preview Weekend

Post by Stduck » Tue Sep 14, 2004 8:57 am

Well Saturday I had the glorius privaledge of working GC at DCA for the ABC thingy. Well I NEVER want to do that again. So there I am at DCA (DL CMs have to do GC at DCA, the DCA CMs need to work Fantasmic!) on the "Performance Coridor" helping create traffic flow, something I know I can do. So a guest comes up to me and asks the envidable question "What's going on" I explain. Then they ask the best way to get to Bug's Land. Which is on the otherside of the parade route and there are no crossovers. I tell them to wait out the parade and then the best I could give them directions to a place I haven't been. They get angry at me cause I don't know a better route. I told them "I work at the Haunted Mansion I don't know my way around this park as well, that's the what I would do, the Parade isn't that long." They turned and left.

Any of DL CMs work this event? Did they think it was stupid and way too hot too?

ABC Weekend BLEW!

Post by SweetAurora » Tue Sep 14, 2004 8:32 pm

I agree with you. What a waste of time and money. BLECH.

I worked the reserved Seating area on Sunday. Too many CMS already on the job, and only 3 guests showed up to the reserved seating area. It was hot and people were extremely bitchy. I had to fight with a guest about the SAME damn problem (getting to Bug's Land) and I told them the best thing to do was just to wait. Since i fought with him the whole time (as well as this immensely huge woman with water soaked down her shirt yelling at me for not letting her sit in the reserved seating area...I still have choice words for her, but whatever...!)...I never got to see the parade. And what the hell? Since when did the POWER RANGERS become Disney, or if not that, move to ABC?

Besides that, some of the leads sent over from Disneyland AND DCA did not know what they were doing. I fiound myself telling some of them to help me out with the crowds in the walkway to get them moving...and had them all under my lead. That was fun...but still. The whole thing just screams "DCA NEEDS ATTENTION!" and "HELP ABC MAKE MONEY!"

And what a stupid idea to bring DL kids over. We don't know where stuff is (unless we come into the park as guests a lot, but gimme a break) and we're just wasting people's time. Get DCA people to do it. We had FAR more people this summer at Fantasmic and probably would have loved some DCA people to come and help!

Yeah you know what I got to do? Help out the character hosts manage a line then once the characters and hosts left watch a set to make sure guests didn't touch. To make matters worse? I was stuck in front of Millionare and got every single question related to that. I wanted to put a sign on my shirt that said "I work at Disneyland in the Haunted Mansion I don't know the answer to your question" Ten bucks says they wouldn't have read it anyway.

i really wish they'd send the people that WANT to do special events, to do them. I know DCA well enoguh to answer questions, i've done enough fantasmic to not be intimidated by people who want to go places they cant, and i've worked indy and steam trains enough to block out the fat wet people (at DL you know that the wet is sweat too :barf: )

Power Ranger merchandise is even in the Disney catalog, but it looks ridiculously out of place next to the more traditional Disney brands.
even more so tromping down the middle of mainstreet when it's code 90 out!

Forgot what management called this training before & after DCA opened. Familiarizing DL CMs with DCA?? Not correct but close. All DL CMs had to work shifts @ DCA at least twice so they'd know everything. Ya, riiiight :!: Think I could be @ DCA 100 xs & still not actually know my way around. Prolly ONLY cuz I really don't care  Poor, Poor CM attitude
