?? for you

Post by momtimesone » Fri Sep 05, 2008 7:39 pm

I don't want to be considered a stupid guest but if this question makes me one then I will take the punches. My sister is a really good sewer and she has made me and my sister a pair of costumes that are identical to the the characters looks in a classic Disney movie. We will look like we just came off the pages of the movie and into real life. My question is if we look spot on like the movie characters will we get in trouble going and attending MNSSHP? I wont pose for photos with anyone but my son and I will never try and impersonate a real character.I want to make sure we wont break any rules as this is our very first time going during MNSSHP and we just want to have fun. I hope you all know that me and my sister respect all you do to make Disney parks the best place in the world to take a vacation.

This is perfectly okay as far as I know. As long as you follow those rules as you have already stated, things will be fine. I think they will even give the very convincing look a likes a sticker badge to wear to tell you apart from the real characters.

Didn't they have that big mess with the one guy who dressed up as Jack Sparrow and acted like him as well, even better than WDW's Sparrow (at the time) where guests thought he was a Disney character and people wanted pictures with him. I thought they had some sort of unofficial rule where you can't look "too good" or else they'll kick you out or something.

I dont believe adults can have a "head" on. Like if you were going as Mickey, you couldnt have your face covered with a costume mickey head. I'd be very careful.

Agreed. Most of the officially licensed costumes have hoods or wigs, but the face is left completely open.

No costume is permitted that obstructs the face. This is primarily a safety issue to make sure guests can see, so it applies to all masks, including the Lone Ranger style.

Actually Zazu.. the rules have changed this year... I work MNSSHP for land clearing and treat locations.. and we have been informed the new rules which state..

Any costum that is to be considered offensive to children ( i.e. bloody, too sexy, etc... ) are not allowed...

Any costume that resymbles a Disney char. is allowed as long as the person does not pose for pictures or sign autographs... or by anymeans of impersonating a Disney ( paid to be thier ) char.

Masks and make-up are allowed as long as does not obstruct the vision of the person in question, and WDW staff must be able to see your eyes.. ( something along the CM's guidlines for sunglasses from what I understand )

These are the rules as set forth during Track Talk.

Thanks for the update. As usual, Parks didn't inform Resorts of the change so we could spiel properly. <sigh>

Don't tell me you're surprised about this. This is WDW, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing over half the time in the same LOB in the same park let alone what different departments are doing around property.

I know this and you've been here a lot longer than me.

Thanks for all the replies we had so much fun and the party was awesome we went on Sept 19 as Cinderellas fairy godmother and my sister was Cinderella in rags.I was only asked for pictures once but kindly told the mother that I was not the real deal and therefore could not pose with anyone but my own child.
