hate to admit I have never seen that movie.hobie16 wrote:Watch the burial scene in The Big Lebowski.
BUT..
While prepairing for a burial at sea, I remember talking with a Navy Chaplin, who told the story of a WWII submarine vet, that wanted his ashes scattered at sea, from a submarine.
Of course they had to do it while surfaced, from the sail. Modern submarines are a LOT different than the old WWII type, and get an awful lot of wind (and turblance)
Long story short, they had to submerge the boat, to comply with his wishes, as when they opened the box his ashes took off into a nice vortex around the sail!

Re: Spreading Ashes at Disney
I still don't see how people are honoring their loved ones' wishes by spreading their cremated remains at a Disney park only for them to end up in a vacuum cleaner or water filtration system or whatever the case may be.
For some reason I was just reminded of that beach volleyball player who put her mother's ashes on the sand before a game. Again, why?! Most of those "beaches" are fake and the sand ends up somewhere else after the event.

Having had to bury a number of friends and relatives, I can tell you that its for the living, not the dead.
I think that if they really wanted to honor them, they would simply put of a shrine, or do something in their honor.
(course, they COULD put it on the mantle of a fireplace, just as long as they don't have a cat named Jinx!!)

While my first choice for my mortal remains would be transplants and the second education, I believe I will amend my will to include cat care as the third option. Many is the SG who has done less for this world.hobie16 wrote:And if they aren't moved the kitties will be by later to poop on them.

Re: Spreading Ashes at Disney
Years ago in San Francisco there was a case of someone dying and, in the will, stated that their dog be euthanized. The head of the local SPCA took the poor pooch in but there were a bunch of whack jobs that threatened the pooch and the SPCA guy. There was even some nut that tried to put a hit on the dog.
The pooch lived to a ripe old age.

I thought that only old farts who didn't want their wives to party and spend all their money on younger men stipulated stuff like that when they died!hobie16 wrote:Years ago in San Francisco there was a case of someone dying and, in the will, stated that their dog be euthanized.
