Has a guest ever saved your bacon?

Post by Teddykeiko86 » Sun Sep 07, 2008 2:48 pm

One time while working the blastzone at Uni, two grown men began fighting with eachother and my MANAGER and I were oblivious to it. A guest came and said "those guys are fighting in here". Thank goodness my manager was there and had a radio. Otherwise I'd have to call security on the land line and hope they picked up. Plus, 100lb me couldn't break up that fight.

I tell my trainees *never* to get into a fight between guests. There just is no upside, and the downside can include both injury and termination.

Our standard approach is to call 911 and ask for both an Alpha Unit and the OCSD. We let the sheriff take the winner and the paramedics the loser. This way they have enough time to finish the fight, more guests get a show (and become witnesses), *we* get a show, and two bloodied guests stand a far better chance of being permanently booted than two we somehow stopped from fighting before they got that bad.

Unless it's a guest attacking another CM, or especially a character. Then I'll gladly risk injury and termination.
