it seems like mostly the rides people are concerned about him, Ive never heard of him before this. I dont see why he's such a big concern, why not just ignore him and do your own job

 Some of you aren't getting the message. We don't HATE him, we LIKE our jobs (and I know I for sure do a damn good job with mine), and our heads are on correctly and not sticking in our asses, thank you very much.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so let it be. Don't attack us, because I KNOW everyone has a different opinion. We're just telling some of you what OUR experiences with Maynard have been. Other CMS should get a good chance to shine, as Maynard does. I've seen CMS try to rise to the occasion, but it'll never happen because of Maynard's immense popularity. I think that's kinda sad, but oh well.

Hmmm...

I'm visiting from another place. I can go to an attraction where the operator cares enough to amuse me as we get started...or I can go to an attraction where the operator is an automaton who does the least possible to get the job accomplished?

I wonder which one will be more memorable for my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disneyland?

If more people took the pride in their jobs the way Maynard does, even a fraction of what Maynard does, the whole World would be a much more enjoyable place.

I enjoy coming to SGT.com...I take no offense that Maynard chose not to based on the title...it does, after all, say Stupid Guest Tricks! LOL

I am not saying Stupidity should be illegal or anything!! But lets just remove the warning labels from hazardous items and let the problem solve itself.Author Unknown

I would like to see Maynard in action. I enjoy it when a CM diverts a little from the script. It CAN be fun. On the other hand, I totally know where you are coming from, Birdmom. When I worked for the "GIANT TELEPHONE COMPANY" we had a guy in our office that was able to schmooz our customers like no one else could. I tried to be as good as "Brent", and I was really good at my job, too. Our customers were CEO's and Presidents of Countries [yes, including ours, the last two], and they would ask for Brent, and if he wasnt available, they would ask for me sometimes. But, he made the majority of the people in our office look "bad". His personality was very extravagant, and he could talk to President Clinton as easily as he could talk to you in the chair next to him. I really admired him, and strived to be as good, but a lot of our fellow employees couldnt stand him. He raised the bar so far that the rest of us just could NOT compete. He also didnt stick to the script, and used a lot of his own phrases. Management had to talk to him lots of times, cause he would just take over calls that he was not assigned to and jump right in with the host of the call. That could get pretty annoying, even to me. It was like, stick with the training that I gave YOU, and nobody gets hurt. Thank God we were not dealing with deadly machinery, you know, just calls dealing with International Incedents and stuff, you know [brag brag].

Dave,Still waiting to meet any of you,

Im in California, Im in California! If you see me at Knott's, come up and say "Hi"!

^ Okay, the novelty has worn off.

I haven't had a real chance to see CMS not having fun or not interacting with the guests. But maybe that's because my ride has a lot of great people who really do enjoy working there and LOVE making the guests smile and have a good day.

I do agree there are a lot of people working there that think of it as just a job, but not me, and not many of the people I work with. People create magic in their own special ways. AND, for one, I let my other CMs working with me get a chance to seize the day as well.

I worked Enterences for Fantasmic! once with Maynard. I enjoyed talking to him he was really nice. I had heard all sorts of things good and bad about him. The thing that kind of irked me about Maynard was not him entertaining the guests it was the fact that the entertainment of the guests took the place of the whole purpose of enterences. While he was singing to these guests who knew him about strollers I had to prevent every guest from entering Adventureland. I was kind of irked and I am the kind of person who tends to avoid conflict.

Other then that I like Maynard for the most part. He's nice and he makes the guests happy and that's part of our job.

I like how you say all that defending yourself then say:

"but it'll never happen because of Maynard's immense popularity. I think that's kinda sad, but oh well."

Why not take it upon youself to be a better cast member?

Unlike you, I am seeing and voicing both sides of the conversation about Maynard. If you would read my comment correctly, you would see that I am defending myself as well as others about the fact that we DON'T hate Maynard and LIKE our jobs (if you'll kindly read that again). I am defending the people on this board, as well as myself. Then I go on to say something not relating to my first paragraph. I say that other new hires and such should get the chance to shine as Maynard does. Maynard doesn't affect my work personally, since I really don't work with him, but I see a lot of new hires and enthusiastic CMS try to entertain the guests and do a good job, but many guests ignore them and go straight to Maynard. Some people are accepting of it, some aren't. Since I don't work with him all that much (except maybe in the same area at Fantasmic!, this doesn't affect me.)

So could you please read that again? Thanks. And please do not be condescending with me, as I do very well with my job (as many do on this board) and respect my job. Please don't assume things--people don't like that

Oi. This is why I locked the other topic.

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."
