Official SGT ADD thread

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I just got back from starting The Return Race from Maui to Honolulu. There were 44 boats competing.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Going to a BBQ with my family at Sunset Beach (near Huntington).
"Excuse me, are those ducks real?"
"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

Yummy food and lotsa people
Just got back from the Taste Of Colorado Festival. They have it every year on Labor Day weekend. It is a big crafts, music and food festival. We spent about 5 hours down there, (Civic Center Park right across from the Capitol Building in downtown Denver). It is fun every year.
Ralph bought me a very beautiful necklace with a pendant made of diamond, Aquamarine, and moonstone in a Art Deco'ish Sterling Siver and Gold setting from one of the best jewelry artists around. We have gotten jewelry from him before. It is gorgeous. Ralphie also bought me a Sugilite ring (Sugilite is a very pretty, deep purple stone). This guy makes the prettiest pieces I have ever seen. Just beautiful!!!
And we ate a lot of food, BBQ ribs and plantain, and drank lots of Vitamin Water. :liplick:
It was hot out there and we got sunburned! It was fun, getting out of the house for a while. We were supposed to go on Saturday cause Hermann's Hermits were playing and I missed them at the Epcot Flower and Garden Pop Concert, so we missed them again here...darn...there was a pretty decent rhythym and blues band playing, so it was okay. Now we are resting...I am about to go lie down and nap! Tomorrow back to the same ole', same ole'!!!!

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
Just got home from work. Just another day at WDW except it was a LOT slower than I expected.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
I had a weird lady at my door today.
She was nicely dressed but didnt seem very bright. When I opened the door she was babbling something about who owned the shed out back. UMMMM...there is no shed out there. The conversation went something like this....
HER; asking about who owns the yard
me; HUH????
her; do you own the yard over there?
me; what do you want (already suspicious of her)
her; do you own the barrel out back
me; totally confused
what barrel? (the invisible one I suppose)
her; the barrel over there
me; do you mean the garbage cans?
her; no the wheel barrel
me; oh, you mean the wheel barrow (i hate when ppl call it a barrel--you are already annoying me lady, the bad pronounciation ain't helping)
me; it's my landlord's ....why?
her; oh, i want to buy it for parts
me; WHAT? ( now mind you, the only time you can see the thing is when Donnie is not parked in the lot and the lot itself is private for a business in the back and the wheel barrow was leaning on the tree in my back yard about 30 yards from the street-this is important)
her; do you think the landlord would sell it to me?
me; ummmm....I dont think so
her; oh, I really wanted to buy it
me; sorry
her; the lady over there said you weren't home
me; what lady
her; the one in that house (points at my neighbors house--this is important later, remember it)
her; (leaving down my front steps) still asking about the barrel
me; you know if you want an older one you might try driving by some of the Amish farms (about a 15 minute drive)
her; OH NO! THAT IS TOO FAR. I live here in town and I want one from here
me; *snort...you arent going to find something like that around here. You would do better to go to the hardware store and buy one (the "barrel" in question is a bit old and needs cleaned up but it is still in great working condition and does the job intended)
her; are you sure your landlords wont sell it (like I am going to call my landlords on Labor day and say HEY, wanna sell the wheelbarrow? :rolleyes :)
me; I doubt it and besides it isnt probably worth much (knowing my landlords they would probably want a pretty penny for it)
me; besides I am not bothering my landlords since i try to avoid them when possible
her; (AND HERE IS THE FUN PART) Do you know what your landlords name and address are (while opening her purse presumably pulling out a pen and paper)
me: (IN MY BEST "HERE"S YOUR SIGN VOICE") NOPE, I have no idea who they are, I just toss some money out on the porch once a month and someone comes and gets it.
her; you dont know who your landlord is
me; havent the foggiest, I just kinda squat here. (squat as in live here not the other one...sickos:p :)
me; I am really busy and dont have time for this
her; (pissed off and stomping away)
NOW for the important parts (see next post

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
)......house set up--parking lot in back, tree in back yard, wheel barrow leaning on tree --back door......all of 10 feet from wheel barrow FRONT PORCH....accesible only by front sidewalk (must park on street to the right looking out my door) or from back by walking along a fence, thru the yard/drive and along the sidewalk from the left (again looking out my door)......................OK.......why would you walk all that way to the neighbors house across the sidewalk and about 25 yards away from the back door when the object you want is obviously belonging to the door 10 feet away????? This is the way she left.
Other important part...saw my neighbor come home a few hours later. Tell her thanks for sending the crazy lady to my door. She was like HUH????? Told her what happened and what the lady said. She tells me that NO ONE was home at her house all day. Son was out, great Grandma was spending day at her daughter's house and she was working.
NOW I am a bit freaked. What was this lady doing? Casing the place (like there is anything to steal worth value*SNORT)???? Oh and she showed up at the door about 2 minutes after Donnie left for work almost like she was watching to see.
I have a funny feeling that she was going to "borrow" the barrow as in permanently. I think that is why she seemed flustered when I opened the door. Needless to say the BARREL
got moved tonite and put up where it cant be seen. I am going to call the police station tomorrow and let them know what happened and ask them to swing by a few times while we are on vacation. It just didnt sit right with me because of her reactions, etc.
ANYWAY>>>>THAT WAS MY DAY< HOW WAS YOURS? :D:

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
Yeah, sounds like she was looking around, and basically trying to engage you for no good reason, I would be suspicious, too. It is good you blew her off. She might have next wanted to use your phone to call your landlord, and get inside to see what you have in there.
My Mom's senior community was the victim of a girl coming in with some bogus story and she would case the place and return later with her buddies
Tell all of your neighbors to be aware.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
She was in her 50's and nicely dressed in a white blouse and black office type jacket and black slacks. That is what struck me as a little odd since it was Labor Day and 2;30 in the afternoon.
I think I definately will call the police in a bit and give them a heads up. I am like a bit freaked since we leave Friday. SIGH...first the hurricanes, now this. Cant win.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
What did I do for Labor Day? I worked a full shift at the Big Toaster. Odd day there, a constant flow of guests with non-stupid requests and questions. Never more than one family in line, but they just kept coming. (Tried to book a meal for myself and it took 3.5 hours in between guests!)
It was an opening shift, so off by 3:30, go home, change, and drive right back.
Why? Dinner at Victoria & Albert's. Nice food, but a bit fussier than I prefer. It's only my 3rd favorite restaurant on property.
Now the problem is, how do I explain to my stomach what happened? It went from Aramark junk to the good stuff in just a few hours. Big confusion there.
