EMH wrist bands
EMH wrist bands
There is a lot of talk on other boards about the fact that WDW is getting rid of the wrist bands for EMH. Does anyone know how it is going to work now? Swipe the KTTWC? What if you don't have one for everone in your party, like the kids?
Any insight would be great.

Re: EMH wrist bands
I don't know all the details but I know how things tend to work so can make some very educated guesses. KTTW cards will be checked at each attraction entrance. Kids over 3 should have a KTTW card as they have to have a ticket. Under 3 they won't be checked I assume. Are they even required to have a wristband that young since they don't have to have a ticket?acourtwdw wrote:There is a lot of talk on other boards about the fact that WDW is getting rid of the wrist bands for EMH. I see nothing but a LOT of headaches for attractions CMs and longer lines by getting rid of wristbands. Now the CMs at the entrances to the attractions will have to check the dates on the card to make sure it is valid instead of just glancing at the color of the wristband, slowing up entry of guests and thus making for longer lines.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I also think that it will slow down the lines if you have to wait for the family in front of you to dig out all of their KTTW cards. We are annual passholders, so once we leave the room the card gets put into my small wallet that I carry and I try not to lose it since it also has charging privvies on it. How many cards are going to get lost, I wonder? It is going to be a pain to get that out at every attraction.

They tried checking room keys instead of wrist bands experimentally a couple months ago and the guests at any rate hated it because it slowed everything down so much. I was under the impression that the test was a complete failure, but maybe I'm wrong and they figured out how to do it right.

No, you're right. It probably was a complete failure in the real world of the parks.
In some bean counters cube it's a success because it will save xx amount of dollars.
I feel sorry for the Guest Relations CM's.

The new Tell-A-Cast mentions the change. Here is the excerpt:
We'll see what happens but I believe it'll end in failure. From what I understand the test ended in failure from a guest service standpoint but it probably was success from the expense standpoint. No needing to buy wristbands nor pay CMs to put them on guests. Hopefully somebody influential will notice the idea is bad guest service and will bring back the wristbands.
If the fact they aren't recyclable is part of the reason I know a fix. Make them out of something recyclable and set up recycling stations in the parks and the resorts for them.MK Tell-A-Cast wrote:EXTRA MAGIC HOURS WRISTBAND ELIMINATION - STARTS SEPT. 7

- We will keep millions of non-recyclable bands from ending up in landfills each year
- If a guest forgot or lost their card, direct them to Guest Relations or the closest FastPass location

Re: EMH wrist bands
The local parks in Toronto use a recycled paper/cellulose mixed band for height check markers for the little ones.
The cellulose makes it durable enough for maybe 24 hours, they can get wet, and don't stretch (so it's not going to be passed around) but after those 24 hours, they basically start to breakdown.
Disney is filled with innovators.. i am sure someone could innovate this.
The next step is (of course) that guests that don't qualify will be hanging around getting into arguments about wheter they should be there or not, and inevitably, the ending of EMH.

I agree Shorty, not that hard to make them out of something recyclable. HONESTLY...has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with saving money. Do they really think ppl are going to be happy yanking out their cards every 10 minutes. I am not looking forward to it and of course the 1st nite they implement this is the only evening EMH I plan on doing the whole week.

HMMMMM...they aren't planning on doing it during the morning ones too are they? That would be kinda a mute point since you cant get in without showing your card at the front gate. OH GOD I HOPE NOT! I realllllly dont like the lanyards and I have 2 of them to show.
I had heard (not sure is why I am asking) that when you check in you can ask for an extra "blank" card with just your dates on it and not your room key, etc encoded to it. Anybody know?

I like the idea of the blank card. That way when I lose it, I won't worry about someone besides my family charging back to my room or using my DDP.

Re: EMH wrist bands
Yeah, I don't get that part either. Guest Relations naturally as they have access to the KTTW system and the machines to make replacement cards (and is where you send guests with issues like that). I don't see how CMs at FP locations are going to be able to help.vixen101485 wrote:PLEEEEEEASE...someone tell me how on Earth is going to a Fastpass location going to help you if you forgot or lost your card?
