And what's really fun is, if you're riding with a theater full of people who don't applaud, you just start clapping and cheering at the end and they will inevitably join in. I love to do that!Ms. Matterhorn wrote:Soarin': The only ride my DH will go on in DCA! Also, the only ride I've ever been on in which the guests APPLAUD at the end! Woo-hoo!

BRWombat wrote:I totally agree. Yes, I can make myself overlook the abrupt scene changes, but they really do take away from the realism.
Even a simple cloud effect would do the trick, without any additional photography necessary -- have some clouds blow across the screen as the scene changes behind them.
Agreed. Either that or the suggestion of angling up toward the sky, then back down would work. I only suggested Tink since she suddenly shows up at the end, but I agree it would take away from the experience, while the suggestions above would add to it.
Re: Not So Stupid Guest
I consulted Mr. Syndrome on his opinion of the scene changes, and his theory is that they're abrupt because of the way they're linked to the musical score. In thinking about it, that makes sense...especially my two favorite parts (the orange grove and the horses...my favorite scenes and I LOVE the music that accompanies them). As we're hanging there suffering through Eisner's cameo, we suddenly point at the screen just as it jumps to the next scene (that's after we pretend to catch the golf ball, of course). Of course, in the loading area we have to do the thumbs up and "Nice Work, Pal" in tandem with Patrick...God, we're a couple of geeks!

Cool. He's the golfer who's actually at the tee in that shot.Big Wallaby wrote:It could be reminiscent of the old 20,000 Leagues.
Never knew that. Good to know. I'll put force into it next time.

That last sentence really takes me back. I remember when the Enchanted Tiki Room first opened that applause was the normal end to every show. Same with a number of attractions. My brother once asked why we did so, as the animatronics couldn't hear, and my father explained that, "No, but you never know when one of the Imagineers is in the hall, and they can."Ms. Matterhorn wrote:Soarin': The only ride my DH will go on in DCA! Plus, I figure Walt is still listening, too.

I think you may have chosen the wrong smilies there. Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to use these? :sheepwalk :sheepwalk :sheepwalk :sheepwalkJugglingFreak wrote:Let's hear it for herd mentality!!![]()

I've applauded coming into the Expedition Everest station before. I also applaud on some other attractions.Zazu wrote:That last sentence really takes me back. Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
