Char. Copy Right Question

Post by Doctor McKey » Sat Aug 02, 2008 9:04 am

I am in the middle of a "fight" over this aged old question...

Who owns Figment and Dreamfinder..

Disney or Kodak?

See here is what I have gathered so far... People are telling me that Kodak owns Figment and Dreamfinder and when they compleat their contract with Disney... All of the JII pavilion will be dismantled and figment will be just that.. a figment of our imagination.

Now from all the research i have done says that Disney Imagineers Invented both char. and Disney owns all rights to them and Kodak is just a sponser.

HELP!!!!!!

Note from Big Wallaby - This guy snorts pixie dust! Ask me for details...

With Disney's history I would think that Disney owns the rights to the characters outright. After Walt lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (and most of his animators to boot) due to contract wording he learned his lesson and made sure he owned the rights to all characters he created later so they could never be taken from him again.

I would hope that nobody in the company would forget that important part of Disney history and allow any of our characters to be owned by another company.

Though I have to admit the loss of Oswald was a good thing in the end as Walt then created Mickey Mouse, loved by us all and the boss of many of us here.

Happy 80th Mickey!

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
