A nice refreshing swim…off the Boardwalk?
I went to the Boardwalk Wednesday night to meet up with some friends at Jellyrolls. I had gotten there a tad early and it was a very cool night so I decided to make some phone calls. I was standing in between the dock and the midway games when I see these three guys right by the railing. I could just tell they were up to no good and sure enough all of a sudden one of the guy’s strips down to his shorts and jumps off the railing into the water. His friends are laughing at him and teasing him about getting out. I then hear that he will just swim over to the boat dock but a boat was docked. So the guy then treads water and I head over to the midway games, and debate if I should tell the CMs there. Well I ultimately decided not to but the CMs find out have a good laugh, and I hear one of them say to a guest “it’s not my problem.”
Well the 2nd guy of the group decides he wants to jump in and does so to join his friend. I’m like well I should get going to Jellyrolls and if the CMs on duty don’t care well I guess I will be apathetic too.
As I’m walking over to Jellyrolls I see a golf cart drive up and I flag the two managers down.
Me: Um, two people just jumped into the water.
Manager 1: Where?
Me: Off the Boardwalk. They were heading for the dock last I saw them.
The two managers proceed to look at each other with a wtf look. The 2nd manager thanks me for telling them and I see them zoom off to the dock.
I walk back over to the railing and watch as the two manager’s pull into the dock where the two guys were up on the dock.
Unfortunately I didn’t see the final outcome but I imagine a free trip to the hospital may have been in order.

Those CM's should have at least called it in. Security would have been interested in them if no one else was.
When a guest decided to swim to moat around the castle, there was a big todo about it. To the point of telling all bus drivers to BOLO.

When we witness people scalping tickets from our window at the Main Enterance we call Security and it takes them a minimum of 15 minutes to come and find out who pressed the security button, was it a mistake, and when they find out it was not a mistake, they want to know where the scalper is. Uh, 15 minutes later? I finally stopped calling Security when I saw a scalper. They were just not interested in our little problem, I guess.Cranbiz wrote:Those CM's should have at least called it in. Personally I wouldn't want to swim in anything but a swimming pool at Disney. It isn't a good idea to swim in any lakes, ponds, or the like due to bacteria that just loves the climate here and is a big part of the reason why swimming isn't allowed anywhere but pools.
The moat?! YUCK! While cleaner than, say, the Jungle Cruise or the it's a small world water it is still nasty. Lord only knows what all gets thrown in there, people spit in it, ducks crap in it, things wash down storm drains into it, etc.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I said that they would have been interested in it, not that they would have come in a timely fashion.

How about the night a couple of months ago where the drunk tried to swim from DTD to SSR. RCFD had to pull him out and OCSD got to lock him up.

For the people who are around those waterways more than I am: What are the chances a gator or some kind of snake could be in there with them?

That reminds me, a few years ago a bunch of Marines graduated from Camp Penelton. The SG marines did something so stupid and dangerous. I think there were 3 of them and they jumped from the second level on the Mark Twain. They swam in the River's of America. Security was called and were waiting on the Island for them. Security's top person is a retired marine from that base. He collected the fools and broght them into security. Security called the main person in charge at the base. Security's top man excourted them to the base and those fools were dismissed from their duty on the base.
I would never go into that water. That is gross and parts of that river is shallow in different areas.

Okay, so what time of day was that? If it was before dark, my wife would have been really, really interested. My wife has been in that water because of training, and when she comes home I can tell immediately. Her first order of business is to strip down and shower. The worst part of swimming in the lakes is the amoebas.

The jumpers jumped im mid day at Disneyland. I was at the park and saw security running. I asked my friends who work on the Island on what had happened. They told me and I was laughing. This occured in the summer.
Now if we could just get the Brizilian tour groups to follow and we can get them out of the parks quicker.
