Very true. Some of these places will even put flyers on cars parked at eating places and printed on them is that they will buy tickets whether or not they have any days remaining on them. So the guest pays $55.00 for a one day pass from them, its expired. Then they come to WDW and have to pay an additional $75.00 for a pass to let them in. Where is the savings?
All I can say is buyer beware!

Or in some cases -- not all, but some -- prey on people looking to run a scam on Disney by paying much less than the going rate for admission.

Is WDW doing anything about the scamers? It would seem that it would not be that hard to set them up for some sort of "sting" operation.

Yeah, I remember the days before 9/11 when they'd let non-travelers go to the airline gates. Every time we were on our way home, there'd be someone scouting for partially used tickets with some sob story. Usually something like, "I'm taking a group of Boy Scouts to WDW. Can anyone help out with their old tickets?" The naive tourists would hand 'em over and they'd be for sale on 192 by the next day.
