Smiley (scary man)

Post by Hostess » Wed Aug 11, 2004 1:12 pm

 Based on the description I've read here, I think I saw Smiley on Friday, Aug. 6th. It was around 10 PM on the Tomorrowland side of Matterhorn and he was walking down the hill. Red hat, shiny jacket, t-shirt, khaki shorts (maybe pants) and the look on his face scared the shit out of me. i ran away and i'm just a guest.

Smiley's name is John. He is definitely a creepy creature. He always has a cup of coffee in his hand. He likes to sit by himself in Great moments with Mr Lincoln in the front row.Don't want to know what he does up there. Always wants to be alone in a pirate boat. And always takes the sweeper trip with the rear conductor. Most female conductors will switch so they don't have to stand with him behind them, especially between Main st and New Orleans. Gives me the creeps

"I have a stupid question for you."

"Can I have a map?"

"Where is the restroom?"

"Do you work here?"

Is it possible that he's mentally-challanged?? Because I had heard many cast members talk badly about certain guests whom I KNEW for a fact were mentally-challanged/handicapped. And it made me sad because people do that all the time to a cousin of mine whom my parents raised (he's an adult and it's like people don't know that even adults can be retarded, so they just think he's "creepy"). Or is he really just genuinly a weird and creepy guy?

Does anyone know Warren?? He hangs out alot near/at Fantasyland Madhatter because he buys random people hats and stuff. He looks like this big dirty creepy guy, and he has a harsh and kinda strange sense of humor...so alot of girls are afraid of him. I didn't know what to think of him at first...but then he's not SO bad...he's just different. And he does really cool stuff for people like buying stuff for them and whatever. He also hangs out at Knott's Berry Farm and does the same thing. He apparently has TONS of money and this is his fun.

Warren. . . yeah that guy! He used to harass me when I used to work at Knott's. He has an annual pass to both places, and goes to both places every day.

From what I've heard about him, he was a successful person, and then he had an aneurysm. It was then that he stopped shaving, and dressed the way he does now. He still has a kind heart, but he's kinda clingy in his own way. Typical lonely old guy. Has interesting things to say. But, I've also heard that he lives with his mother, and although he seems to have $$$ all the time to buy little things here and there for other people, (supposedly) it's his SSI check.

Grumpy, yeah, that's him! I mean, I always honestly liked him...I know SO many girls who were scared of him though! And, admittedly, at first I didn't know what to think because he comes off as kind of...strange. But he's a pretty cool guy. He bought me a turkey leg once and brought it to me for lunch because he said he overheard me saying how I forgot money for lunch...I thought it was sweet of him.

Anyway, I heard the same thing you did...about how he was some aeronatical engineer or something like that and that he had an anyurism (sp??) but that he gets all kinds of money still and has this huge life savings, etc. Anyway, however and wherever he gets his money, it's cool to see that he spends it on kids and people he doesn't even know...just to brighten their day a little bit. People are so stingy and greedy these days and that really touched me that he does that for people.

well, I thought that I would mention his piece of adversity, more for his safety. I don't want some jerk to see how much of a nice guy he is, follow him somewhere, track him down, and mug him or anything like that.

I haven't seen him around Disneyland yet, I guess he's there when I'm not. . LOL But I would see him every so often at Knott's.
