Official SGT ADD thread

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Sorry, only time I ever had drugs like that is when I got burned very bad with an exploding radiator in the desert. Drove myself to a little hospital and was on a gurney lying down, when a doctor gave me a very small dose, and the pain went away...And I got dizzy lying down!!

Woooo! Now I know why that stuff is dangerous!!
Yeah it IS dangerous and highly addictive! And as much as it did help me in the past few years with pain, I WANT OFF of it! NOW!!!!! :(

Sister Morphine... ;)

I had a pump with Fentanyl and Dilaudid in it. Those are very short acting powerful drugs that act fast and wear off fast. They are potent!!!! I could hit the button every 6 minutes. I did. It helped. It knocked me out. They were also bringing me pills, oxycodone (percocer without the tylenol) and also percocet as needed. Iw as getting drugs every 2 hours there, as well as the pump.

When they finally got me back on JUST my pills (60 mg Morphine and 2 Percocet every morning, as well as 60 mg Morphine in the evening and up to 6Percocet per day as needed, PLUS a few extra pills because post op pain is excruciating!!!!)), I was off the pump. It took a day only. They want you off the pump ASAP! They want you back on oral meds so you can go home. You have to be able to pee without a cath, fart or poop on your own, eat a little real food and take oral meds. That is the criteria. It took a few more percocet a day in the beginning to stop the pain once they turned off the pump, but I have backed off them now...

I am back on my old dose of 60 mg of Morphine and 2 percocet at breakfast, 60 mgs of Morphine at around 8PM (though I now add 1 Percocet to that and am going to drop one Mophine tablet starting tonight), which is bedtime for me and usually I take 2 percs at 11AM and 2 percs at 2-3PM.

I will take more if it hurts more, less if the pain is not that bad. (That was how it was before surgery, anyway!)
So I am back on track and have gotten over the tremendous amounts of opiates they pumped me full in the hospital. I was so drugged up there!
Not fun. And it felt weird coming off that much opiates. Not good.

So now guess what? NOW, I get to withdraw from all of my pain meds if I can live without ANY meds at all! I have to do it slowly, I am first cutting back on 1 Morphine a day for a while, then drop another Morphine for a while, then another, then the last. It will go slow. I will get down to just the Percocet and then start weaning from that! In reality, it could take 6 months to a year if I don't want to go through that horrible withdrawal. I know how that feels. There have been mornings when I have awoken 5-6 hours late and I feel awful, sick to my stomach, shaky, weird sensations and that is just being a few hours late on the meds. I am addicted that is for sure and want so bad to be off these pills. I will. It will take patience and time.

Pain is a life changer. It shadows everything you do. It changed my personality over the past several years. I became depressed, lonely and housebound. It takes much out of you physically, mentally, emotionally. Good health is a blessing and I am sure going to exercise my way back to fitness and health after I am able to. The pain is slowly going away. It hurts less and less each day that goes by. It is still hard to get around, cause my back is sore. But I use the brace and walk around the house to get up and moving. Then I rest as I am supposed to. The incision does not hurt as much and is healing wonderfully.

It will be no time at all before I am up and running around again like I used to. I may not be as strong as I used to be or be able to do as much as I used to, but I will be able to do enough that I won't need the damn ECV at DL and WDW anymore, or maybe have to use them just part time to give my back a rest..gotta be realistic...I do not know how much I will get back. They cannot guarantee 100%, They told me maybe 50% or even 25% or maybe close to 100%. But there is no certainty and guarantee.

I have to wait til recovery is over and I can start to use my back and legs and walk again to see just how much I get back! Anything will be an improvement! :) I just know that I have NOT had the old pain at all since surgery, that crushed nerve feeling and pain shooting down my legs, none of that since surgery... :) It is just post-op soreness and pain now. We will see :) what happens when that is gone...

Apart from singing along with it in my car, no... the chorus is on a short break, what with the barbershop International convention last week. We did sing the National Anthem at an outdoor concert in Fort Worth last month, though -- my first time to sing it with the group -- and we've also videotaped a new patriotic song ("One Nation Under God," by Johnny Mann), with the possibility that it might get on national TV sometime. I'll let you know if anything comes of that.

The Fourth itself was nice and relaxing for me, spent with extended family.

Yep! I can! I have already dropped one morphine tablet from my day and I am doing okay and then in a few days I will drop another morphine tablet and be back down to two morphine tablets a day and I will be fine. Some of my muscles hurt more and I have the jitters a little, but I can survive that. Withdrawal symptoms are so much fun! NOT! I will get through them though!

I cannot promise to save the Earth, but I can promise to be a nicer me. Those drugs make you tired and crabby.

HAHAHA ...Pirate! You are too funny!

You know that is a good idea, I CAN have a Pina Colada after I am off the meds. No alcohol until then! Bad juju mixing booze with meds....

Hey Pirate, maybe next trip to DL, Ralphie and I will rent a car and come to San Diego. I have not been there. Can you believe it? I, a native Californian, have never been to the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park or San Diego period. I want to see the Wild Animal Park and Zoo. Maybe we can hook up with the Mrs Pirate and you and do a tour of the Park.

It will be awhile before I heal and can get out. I have this brace on and my back still hurts! But not like before. It is definitely not a pain that I need morphine for. The morphine can go bye-bye altogether! YAY! It will be some time to do that, but I will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....happy not to take that crap anymore. Then it is down to the Percocet and that is next to go, if possible... It is not anywhere near as bad as before.

I think we may have success with the surgery! I don't want to jinx it it so I will wait to make a definitive statement and see what my doc says too. I may be a LOT better. We have to wait and see if the pain that is in my back now, goes away and is just temporary post op pain or if it is what I am left with. It is pretty stiff and I get really bad muscle spasms around the area that they placed the disk in. I need to talk to my spine doc about those spasms.

I see my doc on Wednesday, that will be 2 weeks post surgery. I imagine he will take xrays to see what is going on in there and see if the implant is still in the right place. I am crossing my fingers. At least I don't have those spine tingling and leg numbing nerve pains that shot out of my back for years. It is just real sore and spasming now. I may need an antispastic (NO COMMENTS PLEASE  ) med to stop the spasms. They are really bad in the morning when I first wake up and am lying there, my muscle just starts grabbing and spasming and I can't stop it. It is painful, cause it is in the muscles right around the disk implant. So we will see what that is.

Otherwise the incision is healing and just sore, no more real pain. It is healing well and I finally got a real shower a few days ago, no more sponge baths. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...the shower felt so good. It was hard to stand without my brace on for long and it is good we have benches in our shower, so it helped to sit. But I never knew a shower could be so wonderful. I HATE sponge baths. They do nothing and you feel worse. And it has been in the upper 90's here for a week, so I have been sweating and yuck! I NEEDED a good shower and it was exhilarating!

Don't take your showers for granted, people! You may have surgery someday or something that keeps you from running water and soap for awhile and you shall see how you feel...and smell :gross: . I wanted to crawl into a cave, I smelled like I lived in one!!!!! LOL! :hysteria:

Anyway, back to normal around here, whatever that is! :nyah:

Good to see you are on the mend!! Just go slow..

No RUM fer you!!! (yet)

DW and I used to be members of the WAP and Zoo members, but let it lapse as the grandkids got older. We used to meet our DIL there and push the stroller around when the kids were much smaller!

We went less and less. The WAP is a serious walking day! And the zoo is built around canyons, so a lot of steep hills!

I would wait a year until you are much better to try that!

Of course we can ALWAYS go up to DLR for a day or too!!!

WooHoo!!!

Sounds good to me! I hope we can get therer around October. I may still be on wheels, but that will be okay. I will need to walk some and take it slow. I ma feeling better everyday! YIPPEE!

I think I am going to have Ralphie take me to see Wall*E again today. We have those great theatres that have those really confortable reclining chairs. I will use the wheelchair to get there. Gotta get out of the house and it is going to be in the 90's all week. Might have to go see Wall*E everyday this week! The theatres are so cool you know! ;)

And I am not allowed to swim , so no Water World for me. :(
The movies are the best, just get some popcorn and soda and watch the little robot save the world over and over!
