Pocahontas closing

Post by Cranbiz » Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:35 am

Just heard that on Sept 27th the Pocahontas show will be closing.

Makes me wonder what they will put in its place.

A Wall-E show?

"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

That doesn't seem like it would really fit in with Animal Kingdom's theme..

Pity, my sister has been a CM as long as AK has been open and has worked on that show. She's gone seasonal now, I'll have to tell her this. Can't imagine Camp MM without it. Let us keep Poca though. She likes meeting people at Planet Watch. I know a few of her friends and I don't want to see them go.

I never have seen Pocahontas, I was told even in the AK welcome class that it was geared toward a very specifically-aged audience. Is it a show I should see before it goes away along with other good things like Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse?

I have been to it once or twice. I thought it was cute. Definately geared to a younger guest but it was worth seeing once.

last trip, DW and I went to see it. She was on stage about two or three minutes, then suddenly RAN off stage. They announced the show was closed due to rain. (?)

about the time we left it sprinkled a few minutes and stopped.

We figured they were worried about lightning, plus the other "cast" probably get antsy around rain and thunder.

The Pocohantas show features one Equity performer ... I find it somewhat interesting that the show will be closing on September 27, which happens to be the same day that 2 other of Disney's "Equity Venues" will be closing (Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club). I know there have been other cases of Equity performers doing multiple roles as part of their contract, I wonder if this is also the case here.
