Hey Wallaby - aren't you going to be wasting your talents on the monorail? Isn't almost all of it automated? I'm glad you'll be able to pick up some Safari shifts. I just watched the video Kurt made of your spiel - you sure make the Safari interesting!
CMGUY - congratulations on surviving your first 101 on Soarin'. Don't worry, there'll be plenty more for you to handle. ;)

I won't be wasting my talent... I will be making magic four people at a time there. I can't do Safari full-time... I am finding out what some other people here have told me to be true. Basically, I think I will love picking up shifts there. And I can spiel on the Monorail, as long as I keep it professional.

Oh, and as far as Kurt's video, I gave a really bad performance there due to the... listening quality of some of my guests. There are moments that didn't go quite the way they normally do. I don't care how guests react, but when they make it apparent they don't respect the attraction, I generally mentally give up and save my energy for the next group.

Also the pilots switch between the cab and the platform, so there will still be lots of time for Guest interaction.

Okay, I'm definitely asking for the front car next time we take the monorail.

Kurt said he did two videos, and the one he posted was the one you preferred. Even if it wasn't your best spiel, it was sure a heck of a lot better than most of them I've heard (no offense to you other Safari drivers). :)

Yes, it was a really good spiel. And he does have a very high standard for groups.
CMGuy: I will have to track you down on the 12th

Wow, I didn't know you were recording that time. Ha!

Actually, today someone told my area manager about me and my activities here and my video. I am curious what comes of it. He likes me so I don't think much will, but interesting still. Add to that fact that I am willing to say when Disney (or an area of it) does something kinda stupid, but you'll never hear me bash the company because I do like it. Hopefully, if word gets passed on, they will look at my posts before saying I am bad for being part of this wonderful community.

Well, BW, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for a marsupial pilot next time I take a spin on the monorails. :D:

For Narnia! And for Aslan!

101's at Soarin' are my favorite time. I may be insane, but my favorite place to be is right up at Greeter. If you're friendly, use your words correctly, and authoritative with what you say, it's a breeze to deal with the 100+ people who sit on the ground for an hour or more waiting for the ride to open up.

When I first started at Soarin', it started going 101 every single day, at least once, and sometimes twice or more. For an hour or so at a time. I just thought that's how rides worked. That they were very fragile and went down a lot. It did this for about a month, right before Christmas.

The first time I saw Soarin' go 101... I was at Merge. My friend called from A Tower and he was like "Steven Tyler's on the ride!! Steven Tyler's on the ride!! I buckled the seatbelt next to his!!" And I said that was great but I needed to go back to handling Merge, because we had like 2 hour stand by and Fast Pass was sort of backed up too.
So about two minutes later, my phone rings again. "A side's 101." I was like, "What?!" he said, "Yeah... Steven Tyler's stuck in the air."
So I hung up the phone, and I must have looked pretty scared, because the Stand By guests, who I'd been chatting with before the call were like, "Is it bad news? If it is, tell us first." So I was like, "Well, it won't affect you much because you're about to get on the ride anyway, but one of our theaters just went down, and for the people a little father back, their wait time just doubled. And now I have to figure out how to tell them that without causing a riot." And they were really nice, and they offered to tell the crowd for me, and came up with some silly jokes about... I forget, something like we tell now, that Dumbo won't leave the runway or something.
I was sad to see them go, but fortunately, everyone for the last few groups back knew that it wasn't my fault, and that I was a little scared, and everyone was very nice to me.

So I enjoy 101's. It gives you a chance to talk to the guests under a less-than-normal situations. 101 in the Gates are nice too, because you have two or three other Cast Member's in there to chat with. The only place I've never been 101 and never ever want to be is in Tower. I'll probably have a heart attack. I have had to go into Tower right when we went 102 though, and that was scary enough.

I did hear some about that power outage. Joe the coordinator was talking about it. Did all of Epcot really go out?!
