Re: Rude guests and their cell phones...
I'm staying out of this.
Only thing I know is I've got some French in me.
Which reminds me....
Do we have a "For Sale" forum here?
I've got a family heirloom that I need to unload....
Real nice rifle....great condition....never been used....dropped once...

I'm 1/16 Cherokee. You can't tell, except sometimes when I walk across hot asphalt without shoes on and begin to hop around, it starts raining. <rimshot> Thank you, folks, I'm here all night.ktulu wrote:...All joking aside, I too, have some Native American blood in me, not enough to matter though. I think Cherokee, but I need to confirm with mom.

Besides the Cherokee, I'm mostly English and German (enough that I supposedly have a great-great-uncle who fought in WWI -- on the side of the Germans), with some French, Irish and Polish mixed in.

Actually, there was a guy at work in the breakroom who was talking to a large group and said something about being 1/16th Cherokee, and I was in the middle of conversation. I stood up turning my chair over, and loudly exclaimed "I knew it! I knew there was a reason 1/32nd of me wanted to kill 1/16th of you! I could never figure it out, but now I finally get it!"
Fortunately for me, laughs all around, even from the managers.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Dang, I'm 1/16 Cherokee on my dad's side, as well as German, English, Scottish, and Dutch; on mom's side I'm of Swiss ancestry. My ancestors, most of them at least, came over here when Plymouth Rock was just another chunk of stone, and one of my ancestors met the boat! :D:
Only way you can tell I have Native American in me is my cheekbones, and if you're into forensics you'd also notice my shovel-shaped front teeth, as well as other skull bones (bridge of nose, eye socket) whose shape occurrs only in Native or Asian people. Family rumor has it my Cherokee ancestor was a princess, but I have yet to be able to confirm that. Dang Ancestry.com makes you pay for that kind of information....

I got Southern, Yankee, (yes, those are two separate things), English, Scottish, and God knows what else in me. Gives me a weird accent, everybody notices something different about it.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I'm half Irish, 1/4 Prohibition rum runner, and the rest is mutt.

Re: Rude guests and their cell phones...
My parents are Cuban. On dad's side his parents came from Spain and moved to Cuba after the Spanish-American War. His uncle was a Lt. in the Navy during WW2; he was in charge of the band. I'm looking forward to being the second LT in my family and the first female to do so! His mother's maiden name was "Domenech" so there may be some Italian there. Most of his uncles and aunts had light colored eyes. (My siblings and I are all brown eyed).
Mom's also from Cuba. Her parents were born in Cuba but my great-grandparents came from the Canary Islands, which have some Celtic blood (allegedly) in them. Her small town in Cuba was settled by Quakers; my grandfather was a Quaker and her aunt was a very devout Quaker too. Her other aunt was a nanny for the Castro family.
