Have you read Last Chance to See? I think it's his best work, his masterpiece. I love Hitchhiker's very much, but I think he reached his pinnacle with LCtS. It's heartbreaking and incredibly funny and pitch-perfect. The bit with the kakapo gets me every time. "Come and GET me!" "Where are you?" "Come and GET me!" "Where the heck are you?" "Come and GET me!" "Look..."

The kakapos and the fruit bats are doing okay for now, but sadly, the baiji dolphin is gone forever.

No! I haven't heard of that, somehow I missed it! Thank you for telling me about it, will have to get a hold of a copy as soon as I can. I wonder if it comes in large print.

Thank you!

Bru

I'm not sure if it comes in large print, but I know there's an audio book read by Adams himself.

It's nonfiction, unlike his other books. DNA traveled the world with biologist Mark Carwardine to find animals on the brink of extinction - they visited the aye-aye, the Komodo dragon, gorillas, rhinos, the tragic Baiji dolphin, the kakapo, and many others. The book is a collection of essays about his experiences, and it's beautiful and moving and funny and sad.

So I shouldn't mention that I have an autographed copy of Last Chance to See then, hmm?

Not a great sync to the lyrics, but someone went through a LOT of trouble to make this one....

Did anyone see the episode of "Ace of Cakes" on Food Network where they did the cake for the opening of Avenue Q in Baltimore? Some of the cast (and puppets) visited the shop. Some GREAT ad-libs...
