Very true about the plots, but Lion King also took many details almost verbatum. Besides the dead father appearing to Kimba in the clouds, he had a bird advisor and a wise baboon friend. There were evil hyenas and evil Uncle Claw.

Some interesting pages:

I could buy basic plot similarities but I'm surprised that so many details are "coincidental" too. Still one of my fave Disney movies (and plays) tho'.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery :)

Lion King is still one of my favorite movies. Did Kimba have such a good sound track ;)

Almost three weeks till Wall-E!!! :wall-e:

Found out that Michael Crawford and Peter Gabriel have recorded songs for the soundtrack! There goes another 15 bucks LOL

My husband bought me the kid's comforter the other day for me to use during my many necessary naps. He knows I make a lot of blankets for people but not for myself LOL so he got me that one. My daughter got me the fleecey one for my b-day.

I see there's another interactive Wall-E out- this one with a remote control wish I'd have known about that before I bought the one I have now I don't know whether or not to get the new one or just wait for the ultimate one knowing that's what I really want anyway LOL

My computer desk now looks like a Wall-E end cap. . .they've totally got me on this one. I'm so pathetic.

Oh! and new games are up on the official site! My daughter and I were laughing at the one you have to try to fly around using the little fire extinguisher. It's harder than it looks!

Well, I'll admit I'm VERY partial to the original U.S. Kimba theme:

But I'm a major Lion King soundtrack fan, and some of the music from the play is even better. "Endless Night" is one of my favorite songs of all time:

It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Drat - Guess I'll have to buy it too! I usually just borrow my Dad's CDs but I'll buy anything Michael Crawford sings. He can sing the phone book and I'd sit there and listen!

See, I do the same with Beauty and the Beast. :belleg: :beast: I have a gazillion items of them and my house looks like a Disney museum. Can't help it. I love the swag that comes out with the movies.

I am looking forward to seeing Wall-E. He is so cute! Love his eyes that make you melt and his cute wittle voice..... I cannot develop another "Disney crush". ;) I cannot afford to start collecting a new character. I will get the requisite pins and probably a remote control Wall-E as well, but I have to behave.

I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Disney stuff as it is. Someday I will have a sale of some of my Disney stuff. Don't worry, y'all. I will list everything I am going to sell here first, so you can have first dibs on the swag! It is not gonna happen real soon, but some day I will have to whittle my collection down.
I have so much *stuff* that much of it still is in boxes and not even displayed. And I just picked up a BIG whole lot of stuff this last trip. We always get stuff, lots of stuff every trip! Like new shirts for the new season, (they change tham every season) and they now make women's undies with Mickey, Minnie and Tinkerbell on them! We always bring home new plushies of our faves and of course I have to check all the new pins!

I always bring home little stuff too, pends, tablets, magnets and keychains, I use the little keychain plushies as toys for the cats. They love to play with Pooh and Mickey and Goofy. This trip I picked up a keychain plushie of Crush and Figment for the kitties.
But I am waitin' for Wall-E too. I know there will be Wall-E in my collection soon. I hope they make a really cute plushie of him too. Then I can hug him while I sleep. :p:

I have Goofy :goofy2: , Stitch :stitch: and Eeyore :eeyore: that I trade off sleeping with. Ralph just always sleeps with Pooh! :pooh: I will sneak a pic of him one morning before he wakes up with him sleeping with his Pooh. hehehe :p: He is so cute with Pooh!
So now we wait....and wait.....and wait....
for Wall-E :wall-e:

Okay I went over to Thinkway toys, the makers of all the Wall-E toys and they do make a soft body Wall-E and Eve too. But I can't find one listed at Toys R Us or Ebay or Amazon. I wonder if this is one that has to be bought at the Disney parks. I know they keep some merchandise only to be sold at the parks and other stuff they release as licensed merch for other stores to sell. I am going to have to find out.

There are two versions, a soft plyable type Wall-E and a Wall-E cube figure that is soft and you can pose. hH forms a cube and then you can pull him out of that shape and into the Wall-E shape. So I am gonna have to find out where I can get that soft bodied one. It is cute. There is a soft body Eve as well. That will make Wall-E happy. He may not stay soft for long! OH MY, did I say that? hehehe

I also must have a Wall-E action figure, the smaller one to put on my computer desk. It is so cute. There are so many toys they are making that are already listed and I know LOTS morwe that are not listed yet!

And, yes, there is a soundtrack available at Amazon, it may be a pre-order, I did not check the listing that close. There are books, toys, CDs, computer games and other electronic games...And I am sure there is more to come!

They also had Wall-E paper plates and napkins for a Wall-E themed party, as well as posters. :) This was all at Amazon.

The site to see all the toys put out by thinkway is http://www.thinkwaytoys.com Then you just check out the Wall-E listings. CUTE stuff!

I just bet there will be Wall-E ween  costumes this year! That will be cute to see, little Wall-E's coming up trick or treating. I could see Disney doing a costume for Halloween or just for kids for sale at the Parks, like they sell the Princess and Pirate costumes.

There are so many more things that they have not made or released yet. But when that movie comes out, merchandising will go into high gear! I can see it now. There is already a Wall-E keychain, but there will be pens, pins, anything they can stick that character on, it will be out there. Mugs, tee shirts, lithos, WDCC figurines and of course, baby's first Wall-E plate, cup and spoon set! ;)

Oh yeah they also have Wall-E Christmas ornaments already!!!! At Amazon...with the rest of the first of the merchandising blizzard...
Welcome to Wall-E world!!!!! :D:

And Susi - you know you will have them ALL by the time the movie comes out. Come on, admit it, you're as hooked as Bru is on Wall-E.

Dude I'm totally down for Wall-E. It looks so cool!

Anyone see the life size(ish) animatronic they have of him? Total Awesome.

And they made toys. OMG, toys? Sooooo cool.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.
