Nobody Disciplines their Kids

Wow, that video is sad and disturbing in so many ways. It was almost like we were being pranked, it was hard to comprehend that attitude exists. I hope the parents are proud of their little darlings now. I call for an end to this "Age of Entitlement" that is permeating our culture.

If behavior mod works for these children, it will work for any child.

After watching all the videos of these two little darlings the behavior modification used in Clockwork Orange might be appropriate.

Face it, kids today do not know the true meaning of fair. They think fair means they benefit, nobody else does. In reality, fair means everybody benefits. You could tell them they can look it up in the dictionary if they don't believe it, but in my experience the online dictionaries are virtually useless, and they probably wouldn't recognize a real dictionary if it jumped off a library shelf and bit them. Much less know how to use it. Because first of all you must know how to spell correctly.... :twisted:

My BF and I actually had an argument about this last night. He felt that they were pranking us and I disagreed (very adamantly). I think at one point he even said, "down killer". ;) What can I say? That video pushed my buttons. Even if they were pranking us, I think it is indicative of that same attitude, if they felt any little bit of remorse they would have apologized to that little girl. Is anybody else hoping the girl scout's sister beats the crap out of the girl who is in her class? I'm not normally one for violence, but in this case I'll make an exception. :twisted:

Sarah, just because somebody doesn't believe in spanking does not mean that their children are going to grow up to be entitled brats. I have met plenty of children who weren't spanked who were the most polite kids you could imagine. I have also met plenty of children who were spanked who had similar attituded to these two. In the end, it comes down to the consistency of discipline on the part of the parents and the morals they look to instill. We have plenty of families around here that spank their kids but also teach their kids that if they want something they should do whatever they want to get it. This is why our music teacher in our elementary school puts so much character education into her curriculum.

I heard an interesting quote in one of my education classes, it was on the topic of special ed. You'll have lots of parents crying "not fair!" when a child with special ed gets accommations like a para or testing acocmmodations. No, it's not equal. Fair is treating everybody in a way they should be treated. Equal is treating everybody the same.

I also don't agree with this idea that "kids these days" don't know what fair is, or how to use dictionaries or whatever. Kids will live up or down to your expectations. I have met plenty of children who were compassionate, caring, and polite. I have also met plenty of people in my parents' generation who seem to have that same entitled attitude. You can't make blanket statements about any group. If you believe that this generation is horrible and bad, the kids will pick up on those expectations and will behave in the way you expect them to.

Agreed, and I'm far from an anti-spanking crusader. I was spanked as a kid -- in love, not anger -- and planned to make spanking a part of our children's discipline. I've never needed it. We've swatted some hands when the boys where younger, but that's a physical as it ever got. Stern words, time outs -- and yes, occasionally the threat of a spanking -- were enough, but more importantly we had clear rules, strong standards, and consistent application of discipline.

We've still got the bulk of teenage years ahead, so we know this will all be put to the test, but we are delighted so far in our sons, and we hear lots of praise from others about them.

Them maybe I'm just wishing to see these girls to get a huge ass smack (and then some). They obviously never been disciplined at all in their lives. It clearly shows. Personally, I was hardly spanked as a kid - but I do highly agree with it. Why? I see lots of kids like that and I want to see asses beat.

It seems to me that spoiling and pampering are the in thing with kids and young people these days. I have gone on rants about such shows like Top this Party, My Super Sweet 16, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, The Real Housewives of_______ (fill in what ever city for that season).

These shows glorify and encourage materialism, snobbery, self-entitlement, etc. Heck I even believe that things like Club Libby Lu and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (although it does have some of the cutest kids that come from them) are bordering on starting even the little girls to have that kind of mind setting.
