And us regular people wonder why the ap's keep going up in price....
In late 2006 when we were making our plans for our annual May trek to WDW, (which never happened :( ) our Platinum co-ordinator asked us if we would be interested in a new plan that they might be offering to Plat pkg travelers, a little thing called FOL passes. We could pay 300.00 and have FOL priviledges on all attractions. She said at the time we were talking to her on the phone (it was about September of 06 when we were getting all our itinerary arrangements made for the trip in May and speaking with her) that it was something that was not available at that current time, in Sept of 06, but would probably be available by the time May came and we could add it on when we arrived.

We ended up cancelling that trip a few weeks before we were due to go to WDW (due to Orion's illness :( ) and I never heard about the FOL option with the Platinum package again.

It certainly did not come up as an option to us when we were doing all our itinerary planning for our most recent trip, which we just returned from yesterday morning and I already want to be back in Florida! :(
Heck I did NOT want to come back at all!!!!!!!!! We had to come back to Hell!!! (AKA Denver)

I WANT to be in Florida right now! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! :(

On the upside, we did look at some developments where we could build a home in the area in the future AND we WILL be going back sooner than May 2009 most likely, maybe over the Winter months to look at some more areas and see The World again! :) I for one cannot wait to make the move to the lush land of Palm trees and gators, THE most popular Mouse on the Planet and the lovely sirens of the sea...Mermaids ;) (Weeki-Wachee) ;)
I digress.......

I think the FOL was something Disney was considering adding to the Platinum Package with an extra fee of 300 smackers. Of course they had to add an extra fee....(Where is the moneybags or Mr. Potter smilie?)
Anyone who can afford to pay for the Plat pkg can come up with the extra 300.00 for an FOL! There are probably about 1000 people a yr that use the Plat pkg (going on the figure given to me by the Plat coordinator who said he gets about 100-120 Plats a yr at his one resort and with with 8 Deluxe resorts, that would be about right, give or take...I really would like to know how many per yr total is average for Plat pkgs at WDW)...
Maybe some heard the same thing we did last year and just assumed it was attached to the Plat pkg. It is not in any of the descriptions in the Plat pkg brochure and I know it never materialized. They offer a LOT of perks with the pkg but that ain't one of them.

OT here...as I go from time to time... ;)
Although we did notice that they are starting to delete more and more of the nice little perks and starting to charge for some of the little niceties that used to come with the Platinum Package. We got nickeled and dimed this time on some of the things that used to come with the package. It costs a LOT for that package and Disney makes a shitload from them, if you don't use the pkg to it's full capacity and you really can't do EVERYTHING at WDW on one trip. You will get tours and other recreation out of it, but you cannot book every hour of every day to get the full value of the Plat pkg.

If you are like us and like the luxury and option of being able to have what you want added to your trip at no extra cost, should you wake up feeling like doing something that day, it is a cool pkg. You will be able to go horseback riding with same day resses or take a fireworks cruise or get VIP seating for Wishes or Illuminations or even go boating or fishing...etc...etc... when you wake up that morning and call it in... That can be a cool perk, to add an activity or not....That is nice and allows for a stress free vacation, the way I like to do WDW and Florida in general....You don't have to do the parks commando style. Some things you will NOT be able to call same day and get...Meals at some of the better restaurants must be scheduled in advance. There are some activities that will not fill up and you can get same day though and that is nice indeed.... And then you can get that end of the day massage at no extra cost!
But NOT FOL passes!

We may not use that plan again...* End of OT...for now...Muwhahahahahaaa  ......

Must post this and add more in another post, I am only allowed a certain number of characters per post........ ;)

Continued from previous post....

Anyway, it was supposed to be added as a part of the Platinum package last year and never came about. Maybe some fool SGs think that you get FOL with certain more expensive Disney packages...could be... that, or they are just dumb as a rock or trying to get something for nuthin as SGs do!

So it WAS being considered at one time and maybe as a part of other packages or passes as well (I don't know...), but never materialized and went away to the place where all bad ideas go. Mind you, I probably would have paid that extra $$$ for FOL priviledges, if only because my back can't take waiting, even in a chair or on an ECV too long. When my back is upright, either sitting or standing, it hurts. That is why we only can do a few hours at a time in the Parks. So we must make the most out of each half day and waiting in line eats a lot of time at certain times of the year.

We liked to May because it always was less crowded, but we noticed this year was busy! Even the CMs we spoke with about it, said it was unusually busier for May in their experience of years in the parks. Maybe everyone is finding out what we already knew: May is a great time to go to WDW! Well, next year we go two weeks earlier and celebrate Ralphie's April birthday there and enjoy less crowds by trying to work the trip around Spring Breaks!

No FOL for you!

Good to be back at SGT BTW! I missed all youse guys and gals! I have lots of pics and anecdotes from the trip that I will be sharing as I get the pics uploaded, all 3000 of them!!!!! I did some picture taking this trip.....My camera is still smokin!!!!! Now....

Back to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress....

Did you get a refund for the canceled trip, especially the extra $300? I wouldn't take a pricey extra unless it was already available, not a planned thing.

I think Knott's had a front of the line pass, but you could only use it for one ride, and it cost an arm and a leg. Let me check with kbfdrama, now that they are back up again; they were having site problems for a while.

One my last day at Disneyland a family of six wanted to board Peter Pan using their "Fast Track" pass i.e. their regular twofer ticket!!! The stood in the SAP line at the exit behind two GAC/wheelchair families. They were shocked when I informed them that they had a regular park ticket which was only valid for entry and Fast Pass attractions and that Fantasyland currently did not have any Fast Pass attractions. I presented them with a park map with the attractions that offered Fast Pass and explained how the Fast Pass system worked.
They then proceeded to call me every name in the book and and complained that Disneyland was a rip off. I wished them a nice day as they turned and left while continuing to swear in two different languages.
The next GAC family waiting told me that I handled the situation very well and said that I must see a lot of that. My response, "You have no idea!."

I loved my job. :D:
