Changes in MAW GAC?

Post by EeyoresButterfly » Wed May 28, 2008 10:24 am

The last time I was a CP, as far as I know all wish kids were given the green light GAC. We always expedited entrance (FP or alternate entrance lines, firsts for characters). On another board, some are reporting that wish kids are no longer given a uniform GAC. Only those who are terminal get the green light, everybody else gets one depending on the level of disability of the child and accommodations required.

This discussion came about after a woman mentioned her son (with the button) going on a ride with her 20 year old daughter. They had forgotten the GAC and were denied entry. By the time they got it, they were too tired to ride. That was when the discussion about different GACs ensued. Can anybody enlighten me?

Technically, we're not supposed to look at the buttons except to spot them in a crowd and then take a look at the card. However, half the time they have the card out ready to show you.

I haven't heard anything about them getting anything other than a green light... Wait a second, I have someone I'll ask.

I thought you needed the GAC to get on rides, even for MAW/GKTW?

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

You technically have to have it, but if they didn't have it with them (rarely happened) I would let them on and just remind them that next time they need to have it. I would rather let on a faker than turn away a true wish kid. As BW said, they normally have it out anyway. If somebody is so desperate as to wear a fake button, I say let them on and let karma deal wiht it later. One woman told of how she accidentally lost her GAC at AK. They have to get it from GKTW if they are staying there, so they didn't have it for half a day. Thankfully everybody they ran into was understanding, but could you imagine what would have happened if they weren't understanding?

When I was in attractions, I can tell you from experiance that we try not to turn GKTW or MaW kids away. We just gently let them know that next time they need to have the GAC.

VISA. It's everywhere you want to be, and a lot of places you don't.

That tallies with my experience. Has anybody seen kids with the GKTW button using anything other than the green light GAC?

Are you talking about MAW families? I think in my three CPs I encountered maybe one MAW family. Most of them are just incredibly grateful to be there, they are always my favoritae families to work with.
