I totally agree with restricting myspace photos and blogging about getting the job. It ruins the magic, half of Disney's success is keeping things where they belong, backstage.

I understand that Disney runs a tight ship, and that's a good thing. It keeps scummy people out. But the points system NEEDS to be redone. I know a lady that's been working int he Star Trader for 15 years. She hit her 24th point and was kicked out.
I know that it isn't too groovy to write an article like that, but I found it very interesting. I also want to read that Kevin Yee book, Mouse Trap. Hopefully no one under the age of 12 reads that article though.
yeah, dressing up like jack at the premire was all bad form.
what if disney wanted to have a jack of their own there?
now he's fired and "wait for it" Disney is now one jack off....

Obviously taken backstage, I am sure it was never supposed to see the light of day. But it did, so it's bad.
Had the image never made it into the public, I would laugh at it too, just because it's such an incredibly strange pairing. Putting it on the internet instantly makes me not like it.

The thing is- you're not even supposed to take your camera out backstage without permission. It's not just to preserve the magic, but also for security- they don't want somebody with a hidden agenda taking pictures of sensitive areas. That is CM 101 and if you're stupid enough to violate it- good riddance! If you want a picture of yourself backstage, it's really not that hard to get a manager's approval (although obviously this would be out). We do it for parades and shows all the time.

It's the same article. I love how he glosses over that everything he did is exactly what we are trained not to do. You don't get in trouble for sitting in a stroller because it's sitting on the job (although we aren't supposed to sit on the job because it is damaging to the costumes) you get in trouble because you can easily break the stroller.
Yes, people will come onto you and do inappropriate things. That is not Disney's fault. I've had a guy try to pull me on his lap, another man propositioned me (when I was helping Lilo of all people), I've been humped by an unruly party, but this is not Disney's fault. I've been punched several times, but this is not Disney's fault. When this type of stuff happens, the guest is talked to. This type of role puts you in direct contact with a lot of people from a lot of different cultures. You have to be aware that people are going to do thins that are inappropriate, that is a risk you take to perform the job.
He seemed to like his job, but he obviously has a lot of growing up to do and wasn't ready to perform to the high standard set by Disney. I feel bad because this interview has killed any chances he has of ever being rehired. It's a shame, with a little more maturity he would have been a great performer.

Ok, so I didn't read the article until just now (what can I say you guys talk too much and I usually barely have time to get through the posts, much less look at links to other things) So, he claims that he had 23 points and would get fired if he was late again. I call bullshit, cause as I stated previously, there's progression to the discipline and if he was at 23 points for the first time, it would only lead to a verbal. There's just so many things that bother me about that article, but I'll just stop there.
