Grouping Stories
I know everybody who has ever worked in attractions has at least once had to group the guests to load them into a ride vechile. Does anybody have any good stories to tell about loading. I'll start. . .
I was at front grouper at Coaster and I had this party of 6. I placed them in rows 2, 3, and 4 with two people in each row. When their train came up to the station the two guests in row 2 and one guest from rows 3, and 4 got into the train. The two guests remaining on the station in rows 3, and 4 started to b---h about how they didn't get to ride with the rest of their party. I looked at them and told them that in order for them to ride togher they had to get into the train at the same time. I had a few other things I wanted to say to those idiots, but I was able to hold myself back until I was backstage.
I want to know what part of get into the same train is so hard to understand. :bang:

My favorite is the families who spread out over 100+ yards. The first of them get on the train, then after the gate is closed, they scream at me.
Those people are with us!
Then you shouldn't have left them behind and got on the train.
But we have to be with them!
Relax, I'll have you back here in 20 minutes.
ARRUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
I just love splitting up families, don't you?

Oh I love to spilt up families. It's fun to watch their expressions as the gates close and the log leaves and that one last person didn't get into the log because he was busy taking the groups picture. I guess my hint of the repeatedly opening/closing gates that kept hitting him didn't quite encourage him to hurry up.

Have a seat ma'am, it's supposed to be wet. It's a water ride. Why do you think we call it Splash Mountain.

scene: loading dock of the jungle cruise. we're running 3 boats and there are none at the dock, so it'll be a few minutes...
Me: HI! How're you guys doing today?
Guest who just walked up and is the only group in the queue: 4
Me: Hmm?
Guest: there are four of us
me: great.... I'll remember that when a boat comes around.

"How many people woke up this morning saying 'I have to do the Jungle Cruise?' yeah, me too, I sat on the edge of my bed crying for half an hour."

I really loved loading the small world boats.
Me: How many?
Guest: 3
Me: Okay, row 6 please. (last row in the boat)
Me (to next guests in line): It'll be just a second til the next boat. How many?
Guest: But we're with them!
Me: Oh! They told me they were 3.
Guest: But we're with them!
Me: Okay, to first group), If you'll step back here please, you'll need to wait for the next boat if you want to ride all together. And for the record, this many people is "5" not "3". You may want to remember for the future.
Okay, so I didn't ever actually say that last part, but I really wanted to many times. I don't understand why groups can't decide how they're going to ride in advance, and all be aware of it!

i actually pulled a two people off my train today because two of them were already on (i'm from anaheim btw) and since they won't give us our Excursion train back (the one that's like the florida ones, except for there being two conductor positions) i frequently cannot empty my stations, so this part fo six, which is stuck behind thre asian tour groups, and some mexicans, askes if they can go onot the train, because the grandparents are already there, so i take a look at the oldies, then the queue, and then the area around the oldies, and think, well if i'm not leting on these three parties of four, because of lack of space, then how in hell am i going to get a party of six in where there's room for, well, two, so i offer them this, oldies get off and wat for the next, and the family of four sneaks on, and my train runs like hell for the next station because you're slowing me down, so it worked out, and i was satisfied, with using the efficency and service keys, and then when i came back around, i had to stop the train for some dumbshit dumbshit family that thought the other conductor was telling everyone, but thier daughter, to be seated.
ug people suck
we need to stick our heads in the dirt for being dumb.

when i first started working at the resort, I was fortunate enough to get Indy. But the first couple of weeks or so, I would go home and have dreams, more like nightmares, where all I was doing the entire time I was asleep was grouping. It was FABULOUS :( No, but seriously I thought I was going to go crazy.
On another note, you've never really grouped, and I don't care what attraction you work, till you've sinlge grouped at 10 rockets or double grouped at 11 and 12 rockets at Space. Thats real grouping at its finest. Its a real art form.

Its great at splash. We have three rows for five seats. Apparently this concept is VERY difficult for people to get. I really hate it when I will be triple grouped and the group in the front will back out of line or tell people to go ahead of them because they think they won't get to go with their group. When I ask them what they're doing they just give me this look and say "We wanted to go together". Sometimes I want to scream at them. I tell them if they had stayed where they were they would have gone together. Sometimes I tell them that I have done this once or twice and I don't make it a practice to split families up. And people wonder why lines are so long. Because we have to sit there and fight to get people grouped.
