DL Cast Members...Question...

Precisely DisneyMom and svick! Who cares if a CM loses their job as long as your family gets in free? Even if someboyd approprached me asking me to get them discounted tickets I would be upset. I earn that discount for my friends and family because I work for the company, I am not going to abuse it for some cheapskate who thinks that he's better than everybody else. I would imagine that that too could get you in trouble and be seen as stealing from the company. I remember looking into the DVC, and being told that buying it with your CM discount can make it harder to sell it later on as it is seen as competing with the company, I would imagine this isn't any different.

these types are the stupidest of Sg's, you all work hard and are not paid enough and one of the perks of yopur hard work is getting into the parks free and being allowed to bring a few friends or family members in a few days a year free and some asshole want you to give it to them or risk you job selling it to them on the cheap. I never did under the table towing though I know some of my driver have in the past and we have caught and termed a few. I just dont see my job woth $25.00 or $50.00, I gotta live and that isnt going to pay my rent. If I take money for a tow and dont turn it over to the company I am stealing from them, pure and simple, now Disney gives you so many entries per year, they are yours to do as you please but as others have mentioned there are policies about how they are used and I'm sure there is a policy about selling them.

I used to prowl yahoo answers theme park section and there were so many people on there wanting free or discount tickets I finaly gave up. It was just gimme, gimme, gimme, how can I get free tickets/discounts all kinds of BS and not just Disney but all the major theme parks but LA and Orlando were the worse. If you want free tickets to Disneyland or WDW go sit through one of the time share sales pitch's and get a free ticket, if you want Discount tickets try AAA if your a member, some motels/hotels will also give you "free" or "discount" ticket for staying with them but they are just charging you more for the room to make up for it. Wait for the slow time of year at DL and Disney will offer discounts online, like everyone pays the kids price or 5 days for the price of 3, at WDW book through Disney and the cost is very reasonable, in fact hour for hour you cant go to the movies for the same price.

And craigslist is one of the worst places for this sort of thing, half the people on CL are scammers and 90% of those left over are SG's of the worse type.

Disney offers a quality product and a lot has to do with the Cast Members so they cost a little more (you get what you pay for) and they really dont have trouble selling tickets, so discounts are there when they want to offer them. other theme parks practically give admission away and you can really tell by the quality of the guests.

I go on a very popular and well known disney info site and there is a lady posting that if you want to get into Disneyland for free, all you have to do is hang around and find a cast member on their way into work and ask for their free passes for the day, maybe offer them $10-20 for a couple....
Will this work? I am coming for 4 days in August and wouldn't mind hooking up with a CM (not in THAT SENSE...get your mind out of the gutter) and giving him/her some cash for 4 days of passes....

I was surprised to discover that Disney Casting actively discourages folks with a law enforcement background from going into costumed Security roles. Something about having the wrong instincts.

We do have quite a bit of plainclothes Security, and many of those folks do have the background, but you'll spend a lot of your time investigating CMs, and get all the love usually reserved for Internal Affairs officers.

But who knows, we're so hungry for bodies that can stand up and smile at the same time you could probably get in anyway.

Yes there is a policy about selling them. It's not allowed, I think it even says it on the sign in pass. Selling is subject to discipline including possible termination.

From the terms on the back of my Main Entrance Pass: "This pass is non-transferable, not for sale, and may only be used once per day".

And from the little holder the pass comes in: "Sale of the privilege is prohibited."

Has anybody been to the Cast Preview of Mania in Florida? How is it?

Not only is it real fun, but it was designed to be accessible. There is a special boarding area (similar to Space at DL) but designed in and not an afterthought and some special ride vehicles where a wheelchair or powerchair can be put on the vehicle. For a lot of detail, we have a long thread in the disABILITIES Forum on DisBoards.

I don't know the status, but several months ago at MK they put in special turnstiles for where CMs enter when using the MGB with guests.

Instead of the Greeter having a stack of readmission tickets for the non-CM members of the group, the Greeter would enter the number of people in the group into the keypad. Then each person (10 or older) would put their finger in the scanner and when the green light came on and the turnstile unlocked it would automatically print the readmission ticket.

This way if there was a problem later on with a Guest not accompanied by the CM who let them in, they could read the ticket and see who was the CM who gated them in.

I don't know the status of this right now, but I have not heard if it has changed. (I have not taken any guests into MK yet (using my MGP) so I don't know if it it still being done.)
